Concept Audi A1 to be shown at Tokyo 2007

Audi A1 Artist Impression

We will be able to get a glimpse of what the production version of the Audi A1 will look like in end-October this year thanks to a concept model that will be revealed at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. What we’ve been seeing so far in the press have been artist’s impressions of what the car will look like. We’ve also seen some internal sketches of the car, and they basically look like a shorter, tinier version of Audi’s typical design cues.

Audi’s new attempt at a small city will be displayed as a hybrid concept car, though the final production car will have petrol and diesel powered models as it’s bread and butter.

This is what a Satria Neo should look like in the first place! Cues of Gen2’s headlamps and that solid looking rear end.

Very Clone Trooperish in a German sort of way. I like Birdcage windows. I can imagine it with DSG, heavy, expensive, not tuner friendly, harsh with those rim size. Ahh the Germans. So when is Audi going to go back to its Rally roots like everybody else have done? Coz this one looks like a contender.

For one, the large gaping grill design belongs and IS created by Audi. Lancer ala Audi i would say.

BUT – It’s ugly. Small car trying to look aggresive with design cues from large cars is definitely a NONO ….it’s as if a large car trying to incorporate cute looks.

ehem – Satria Neo looked better than this… albeit NORMALer …

the front grill looks like that because it was for pedestrian protection purpose..it wasn’t a copycat from lancer..and don’t be surprised if most of the upcoming cars will be look like that

The gaping or Trapezodial grill is what Audi called a single piece grill design. This design is adopted by Audi as their identity, just like bimmer with its twin kidney rings, or now the gapping mouth of the Peugeot, or the shark snouted nose/grill of the Lancer. Audi was the first to fully adopt its single grill concept in all its production cars, and from then it transferred to its sister company – VW, later on to Buggati.
As for the A1, its muscular and mean, but cool looking.
