Volvo S80 Executive – the most luxurious one yet

Volvo S80 Executive – the most luxurious one yet

Volvo has come up with two new variants, designed for buyers who want a car with that extra exclusive look and individual touch. The S80 Executive is the first of the two new takes, and there’s plenty of plush in this one.

Refinement is the word that comes with the Executive badging – the car is the first Volvo model with an instrument panel top in leather, available in espresso brown or off black. Other interior details include ventilated soft leather seats with massage function, leather door panels, an integrated analogue clock on the instrument panel and an aluminium centre console storage.

It also features specially designed, extra thick carpets, and there’s even an option to install a fridge in the rear seat, combined with a set of Swedish crystal glasses, all in the name of luxury.

The S80 Executive comes replete with the company’s latest Sensus infotainment system, which presents all information on a five-inch or seven-inch colour screen in the upper part of the centre stack, positioned high up to make it easy for the driver to keep his or her eyes on the road.

China owned and made car also want to compete with the big boys from Germany and Britain kah?

I was a Volvo fans once upon a time but now, with its China image, I find it hard to part with such large amounts of money. I rather buy a BMW. Its not like Sony TV lah ie now made in China, this involves few hundred thousand ringgit.

What a moron. Since when are Volvo cars made in China. They’re still made in Sweden, and some in Belgium. Not a single Volvo car is made in China, they’re just assembled in China for the Chinese market. Just because a Chinese company is a majority shareholder doesn’t mean that Volvo is now a Chinese company with Chinese-made cars.

Lotus is owned by Proton, does it mean that Lotus has become a pariah brand? What about Tata owning Jaguar?

Volvo is building a plant in China next to their owners. Pretty soon it will be China made. Besides, wages and salaries is still much lower that the Swedes which rank as one of the most costly.

        • The plant will be beside Geely. I am confident that it will soon share parts with Geely.
Maybe even change name to VolvoGeely.

China is famous for cost cutting. I won’t be surprised they have already started the cost cutting measures for Volvo and sourcing and using China parts. Though officially 2013, you know lah China, they will do things on the quiet. Buy at your own peril.

Image of Made in China is exponentially going positive and upmarket, and has been way better than that of Made in M’sia. Don’t you dare deny that!

This model was designed, made, and manufacture way earlier than the Chinese takeover, even so, what’s the big deal?

Still as impressive…. both ride, comfort and safety, especially with the new S60. S80 is definitely tuned for comfort and cruises… a different tune.

  • If this is the first of the two variants, will the other one be named ‘Royal’ which was offered with the S90. The S90 has two luxury variants too in the past: Exceutive and Royal. The Royal is like a little longer just like the L in BMW or MB. The distinctive feature is the triple crown on the rear side whereas the Exceutive has one.
