Merc E300 BlueTEC Hybrid – UK prices and specs out

Mercedes-Benz UK has released official pricing and specifications on the E300 BlueTEC Hybrid, the most efficient E-Class yet. On-the-road prices start from £39,645 for the saloon and £41,435 for the estate, with company car tax rates ranging from 12 per cent.

A 2.1 litre four-cylinder diesel developing 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque joins forces with a 20 kW electric motor (which is mounted within the gearbox to save space) to result in a 0-100 km/h time of 7.5 seconds for the saloon and 7.8 seconds for the estate, whilst top speed is around 230 km/h.

Standard kit includes leather upholstery, Becker Map Pilot Navigation, daytime-running LEDs and 17-inch alloys, although buyers can specify 16-inch wheels at no cost to achieve the lowest possible CO2 and economy figures which, Mercedes says, are 4.2 litres/100km for the saloon and 4.5 litres/100km for the estate. Emissions are 109 and 116 g/km respectively.

UK deliveries are expected to begin in November.

In UK it is £41,435 = RM203,000. But it will be sold here for RM700,000. Where the RM500k goes?

The RM500,000 will be used to buy some expensive Birkin handbag costing RM200,000.

Our diesel is not good enough for sophisticated Mercedes diesel engine. For sure, they have done tests to make this decision.

  • When the Government get soooooo easy money through EXCISE and tariff, the Government will inflate other costs to make it ballooning akin of MRT, PKFZ, Perwaja, Lembu, highway concessionaires and not to mention military-related expenditures and other government-sourced projects.

NOW and till doom day, Malaysians will never expect to enjoy cheap cars like the rest of the developed world or Third World BUT we’re actually who subsidized the government of the day.

Pity, in 1983-85, after inception of so called national car, Proton these taxes, tariff, duty excise were luxuries government hard to resist, let alone abolished.

They’re talking about the benefit of follow fuel price mechanism like other countries BUT very very reluctant to follow other countries step in automotive tax and pricing.

In Germany (since the RHD car exported from Germany) the car merely 43,525.00 EUR=166,548.18 MYR. Even after you put another RM300,000 to make it RM466,548.18 I don’t think we can get here. Normally British pricing substantially higher than the continent. Some Britons got their RHD car from the Netherland.

Its more realistic to ask for Audi A6 hybrid. This has a 2.0 engine and qualifies for tax exemption. I just dont know why Euromobil is so slow to bring it in.

It depends on Audi’s plans too, not just Euromobil’s. Even Australia is only getting it in 2013. ASEAN may be later.

But we have to be thankful there are right hand drive versions of A6 Hybrid. Other hybrids such as Q5 Hybrid are only made in left hand drive so no chance for introduction here.

  • The diesel have 2143cc instead of 1.8l for gasoline car. FYI if MB have gasoline hybrid they may used 1.8l and eligible for Hybrid tax exemption till 2013.

Woe to Malaysians. Third world country paying 3 times as much for the car as wealthy Germans or British. Can’t go on like this….
