VIDEO: JDM 2013 Toyota Auris on the move

We had a good look at the 2013 Toyota Auris last week, including an ad of the five-door hatchback featuring a rather eye-catching model! Here’s another video, but relax, there’s no nudity involved, just a JDM Auris prancing around on the road and track. Feels like Gran Turismo!

The domestic Auris looks pretty much the same. Japanese buyers can choose from naturally aspirated 1.5L or 1.8L engines. Only available in conjunction with a CVT, the smaller unit has 108 PS in the FWD model and 104 PS in the AWD variant. Why the latter? It snows in Japan.

The 1.8 litre engine is front-wheel drive only, and it makes 142 PS. There’s an “RS” grade with a sports exhaust system that takes max power to 145 PS. This engine can be paired to either a six-speed manual transmission or Toyota’s Super CVT-i gearbox.

In Japan, the Toyota Auris “Sports Hatch Back” is priced from 1,710,000 Yen (RM67,521) to 2,250,000 Yen (RM88,840) for the top end model. Click here for full details and a gallery of the 2013 Auris.

Rm88k is still consider expensive for a hatchback car like this. Maybe the same price as Honda Jazz hybrid.

this might be a premium hatchback…in the class of focus…this premium feel is more suited to european…for asian…we need a “not so premium” feel as it more suited to working class or small family. therefore the price for asian…need to be “not so premium” as the buying power of this category is going for “not so premium” product! but my opinion this auris is not going to reach our shores unless people stop buying vios!

chances of it coming here? sighs, it probably ends up as a badly specced uncle-ish tasteless toyota altis whose main focus market is thailand and directly sold to us without any upgrades.

This is wayyy better than the super weird ad like before. The Auris’ front reminds of a sharper version of the WRX STi Ver.10’s front.Which is a good thing.

And UMW should think about bringing it here to compete with the Golf TSi and it should be priced around 130k in my opinion. From the looks of it nowadays,Malaysians are getting used to C-segment hatches.

when it comes to Malaysia, price it anything over the upcoming Ford Focus’ and it will not be worth it.

  • If Msia price Auris same as altis, think lot people will buy. But most likely they will price higher else it will hit badly on the Vios n Altis

lowest model… 67k + shipment + importer profit + salesman commission that bring it to at least 80k i think.

80k + 30% import duty + 75% excise tax + 10% sales tax =?? + insurance & misc… guess not much changes from 200k… My opinion is, unless it’s better than Wish, else it’s not worth for a think.
