Peugeot 2008 Concept – crossover joins Paris party

Peugeot 2008 Concept – crossover joins Paris party
UPDATE: Post updated with more info

Peugeot is preparing for a grand home motor show at Paris later this month, with known attendees including the 208 GTi, 208 XY, Onyx supercar concept and the facelifted RCZ, which we showed you earlier today. Now it seems like another debutant will join the list, the Peugeot 2008 Concept.

The 2008 Concept is clearly a development of the Urban Crossover concept that the French brand brought to Beijing in April. Designed by Peugeot Style teams in Paris, Shanghai and Sao Paulo, the crossover blends the “elegance and refinement of the hatchback” with the “impertinence and mischievousness of the SUV.” What do you think of the result?

To be based on the 208 supermini, the 2008 will take on the Nissan Juke, a niche-creating model that’s also based on a supermini platform. The Peugeot is 4.14 m long and 1.74 m wide.

Under the fluorescent yellow concept’s hood is a 1.2 litre three-cylinder petrol engine with turbo and direct injection. 110 bhp is the figure suggested, combined with low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The 2008 will go into production first in France (Mulhouse) then in China (Wuhan) and later in Brazil (Porto Real). Camouflaged mules have already been caught testing in Europe so it won’t be very long before young city dwellers get to buy one.

As always with Malaysia, only the price factor will decide if this urban crossover is accepted or not.
Design, features etc will be considered after that. And the only possible way to price it right is if its being ‘CKD’.
How Peugeot / Nasim are going to CKD it, no one cares… as long as the price it right ;)

  • hopefully it gets the newer ep6cdtm engine as found in the new 408 turbo. the older ep6cdt found in the 308 turbo won’t do the brand any favours.
