Ford Fiesta facelift makes its North American debut

Ford Fiesta facelift makes its North American debut

The facelifted Ford Fiesta continues its global introduction process – the car, which originally broke cover in Europe back in September, has now premiered in the US, making its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in both hatch and sedan versions alongside the five-door Fiesta ST.

In terms of exterior, the American Fiesta doesn’t veer away from its European sibling – virtually all the same cues of the rework are to be found, including that Aston Martin-esque nose.

Inside, however, the cabin features a slightly different take compared to the European version – the dashboard shape is the most noticeable, but elements such as the door cards and central console display also offer a different outlook. Likewise the steering wheel; it’s still a three-spoke, but the boss and spoke flow reveal changes to the design.

There’s a MyFord Touch system, replete with 6.5-inch touchscreen, which makes for the rather prominent shape of the central display’s housing. Features like SYNC and MyKey, found on the European car, are also here, and also available is a new eight-speaker Sony HD audio/satellite radio system.

Like the Euro car, the US Fiesta will wear the 1.0 litre EcoBoost three-cylinder, with output rated here at 123 hp.

I wish this car will arrive Bolehland asap. It will be interesting to see the performance of this 3-cylinder powertrain.

    Wow, 123hp from a 3 cylinder, 1.0 engine!

This nose doesn’t work on the Fiesta though.

Looks a lot better in its ST kit. But if one goes for a sedan, better go for the new Mondeo. And please bring in Ecoboost already (sans the ST).

well if you look closely, the euro version and the us version has a slight difference with the bumpers.. the back is more apparent as the us spec is longer

the front is also slightly longer than the euro spec but not very noticeable.. same for the st apart from the rear doors

I’m driving a pre-facelift model and i find facelift model does look cool.

I would love to swap that 1.0l EcoBoost into my engine bay…

I was being told that our ASEAN version of the fiesta is the 2010 version. True?

Correct. But you must understand, this is a facelifted model, not a new one. The only thing missing is the Ecoboost engines. Otherwise, inside out, besides the cosmetic changes, it’s essentially the same Fiesta. However the ST version is all new.

Overall standardizing the frontal face…like Mondeo, but the steering wheel looks like from current VOLVOs?!

  • Wow ! 1.0L producing over 100hp ?! That’s awesome ! 3 cyclinder only ? Very high fuel efficiency.

Man, I wish this spec would be available here. Most likely it’ll be the same 1.6L currently used in the Fiesta. Sigh…

If Rayong plant builds 1.0l EcoBoost then chances are Msia might get it. Anyway, current 1.6l engine is not too bad, relatively speaking.
