New Peugeot 308 – first photos of the second-gen

photo 3

UPDATE: Hi-res photos – and initial details – of the new Peugeot 308 can be found here.

The first images of the second-generation Peugeot 308 have surfaced. The hatch is expected to make its public debut in Frankfurt later this year, and as far as naming convention goes will retain the 308 name – following the marque’s new numbering system, where the final digits are now fixed – instead of moving on to become the 309.

No tech details as yet on the car, but in terms of engines shouldn’t veer away from that being offered right now, as in the three-cylinder 1.2 right up to the familiar 1.6 THP petrol and HDi diesel mills. More as we get closer to Frankfurt, undoubtedly, but for now, what do you think of the new lines?

Hmmm, quite clean yet conservative design

Will need some time to grow on many of us I think

  • Gone is the big giant smiling head, Hurray!! But it does look more -oh, pug fans are going to kill me- plain than the outgoing model. Interior looks like a quality French product, which is good! félicitation on the interior.

a lot of people say the giant smiling face was ugly. now everyone is copying it.

This car is a beautiful and sexy car! The Dashboard is extremely nice, i am impress with the design ! Although it is a small car ( not suitable for family car) but it is very nice car for second car! and the price is less then Rm 90K which is affordable !

You are mistaken. This is a family car. A VW Golf class in size.

Maybe you were referring to the 208 which is smaller.

The 208 is already near 90k for the standard version. So, what makes you think the new 308 will be below 90k?

Mind define your ideology of “family car” ?
I have a wife and a kid. So.. I cant have this for my family?

I’m not sure if I like it, but as of now, the smaller 208 is much better looking. Heck, even the 301 looked better too.

I kinda dislike the front, doesn’t looks like a Peugeot at all without the happy face. Just looks like a another Kia, Kia Ceed maybe. But interior is cool. I prefer current 308 front much more

  • Simple n beautiful.. much better looking than Golf. If they maintained the old price, and fix the freaking small glovebox size for right hand drive model, then it will be a success.

They just need to stop using that turbo 1.6 and find a better alternative. Heck, why not just sell the diesel here instead?

It looks much more conservative now and much cleaner, which I like. I think it looks more interesting than the Golf. Pug should make a hotter version of it as well. That would certainly add the 308 sentiment just like the 208 GTi. Cant wait for the official release.

  • A bit “soft” and a bigger version of the 208. Head looks like the 508….

Well, I’m hoping to see the sportier version

    Yet…
Proton to design a simple car like this

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0
  • Seems like Peugeot lost their design direction with this new 308. The 508 is big but elegant, However the 308 side elevation looks too conventional to evoke any excitement…

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0
    • their new design direction probably tells them to make it more conservative and less outstanding, more conventional and more acceptable. this will result in fewer polarising opinions and probably appeal to a wider target market which should theoretically sell more as well. well, toyota and vw can’t be wrong with the numbers they sell right?
