You no doubt know what car this is, despite the shot’s extreme underexposure – Caterham is in fact teasing here a new entry-level Seven that will cost less than £17k (RM80k) when deliveries start before the end of the year, after a full reveal sometime in the autumn.
The car will carry a “super-compact, flexible and EU6-compliant engine,” besides being the Malaysian-owned firm‘s most fuel-efficient model to date. No other details have been released so far, save for CEO Graham Macdonald saying that the car “will be uncomplicated, easy to run and, most important of all, an intuitive and exciting drive.”
More brawn, however, can be had in the 180 hp Caterham Supersport R or the supercharged 275 hp Caterham Superlight R600. Late last year, the company announced a deal to develop and build sports cars together with Renault – the first of these is set to be the Alpine, which should surface by the end of 2015.

3 cylinder or even 2 cylinder turbo charge engine?
Looking at the latest offerings from the OEMs around the globe, if it’s a 3 cylinder turbo then it should be a Ford-engined, if it’s a 2 cylinder turbo, then it should be a Fiat-engined.
Since now it is owned by Tony Fernandes, are they going to sell it in Malaysia?
He’s a businessman. We’ll probably see it if he thinks he can make some profit selling it here.
Wonder if it will feature in apprentice asia…
The 7 looks like Man of Steel (Superman) logo.
please Tony, sell this car here…. but pls be reasonable on the price…
You already have enough money….
The 3 cylinder eco boost would be an excellent choice, for sound, economy and tuning potential However, Ford charge £2500 GBP more for the Eco boost engine over the NA 4 Cylinder 1.6 Sigma engine. So if offered it won’t be the cheapest of options. Do like the idea of the Fiat twin air engine :-)
