SPYSHOTS: 2015 Ford Mustang full prototype

Ford Mustang a

Our European spy snappers at CarPix have certainly been hard at work – the heavily-cladded vehicle you see here is no mere mule – it’s the full prototype of the 2015 Ford Mustang.

In a break from tradition, the sixth-gen pony, code-named S550, will likely have its trademark live rear axle replaced by independent rear suspension. Production could begin around mid-2014.

The familiar 305 hp 3.7 litre V6 and 420 hp 5.0 litre V8 should keep calm and carry on, while European buyers will have the option of a turbocharged 2.3 litre four-cylinder unit, likely to offer around 300 hp. Some reports indicate that this EcoBoost-derived four-pot could make its way to the US as well.

it’s not just about power… it’s about the shear sound of the american muscle car…

A mustang without a V6 or V8 is like a Mclaren with a Camry engine. But good is there is a RHD version and can swap the big engine from America.

You do realize that 2.3l 4 cylinder engines (both NA and FI) are firmly planted in the Mustang’s long illustrious history. It just wasn’t the most revered. A 2.3l turbo (ecoboost) engine is well within the Mustang’s pedigree (but again not necessarily the most evocative choice).

If it was a Proton wrapped under this camouflage, there will be retards all over the comment section saying “Is that the best design that Proton can come up with??” “After 30 years, better to close Proton”.. etc.
