This is a first look at the 2015 Chrysler 200, the American carmaker’s refreshed entry to its local mid-sized sedan market. Of course, mid-sized over there translates to large sedans, i.e. D-segment vehicles over here, as they all love to supersize things over at the States.
It looks pretty handsome, no? Distinctive, to say the least. In the US, this car will take on the likes of the USDM Toyota Camry and homegrown rivals such as the Chevrolet Malibu, Dodge Avenger and Ford Fusion. Replacing the outgoing 200, it will sit below the more well known Chrysler 300 in the now-modernised range.
It hasn’t been officially unveiled in full yet; that will happen at the 2014 Detroit Motor Show next week. For now, we have a full set of photos of both the car’s interior and exterior, plus a few key mechanical details.
Powering the wheels (front-wheel drive is standard; AWD a cost option) will be a 2.4 litre MultiAir 2 Tigershark or 3.6 litre Pentastar V6 engines connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Don’t you just love these American names? The former has 184 hp and 235 Nm, while the V6 offers best-in-class 295 hp and 356 Nm.
simple design at same time its nice to look
last time i remembered there was a news saying chrysler will be distributed here..but up to now still quiet
meanwhile, japanese car still look like crap..
I think this is the first time American design car looks almost perfect. Very clean design. Looks proportionate. Bravo!
Except it doesn’t have the expensive look. To compete with the Japanese is ok but not yet to Germans or even Germans wannabe such as Lexus.
9-speed AT? thats 1 speed higher than the currently available 8-speed AT manufactured by ZF.
Must be quite fuel efficient i think. if not better than the 6-speed MT.
Reliability? we’ll see what the future customers will comment about it.
Torque converter automatics should be reliable enough for most, especially when compared to dual clutch autos.. Fuel efficiency of newer 8 and 9 speed autos is actually better than the 6 speed manual, so no concerns there… ZF 8HP is used for longitudinal (north-south) rear wheel drive platform while ZF 9HP is used for transverse (east-west) front wheel drive platform…
For the very first time, an American D-Seg Sedan from one of the big 3 that does not look like an American design. And the design is good.
We call it the European disease. Korean had it first. lol
Looks good, inside out.
However, tall, short rear? Just like the Preve, isn’t it? I still don’t see what’s wrong with the Preve rear, except for the rear light design. Many modern cars have a boot like that.
remind me of the Chinese Qoros
audi at the back lol
All cars looks good in digitally enhanced photos ,
for chrysler its a revelation..
American automotive industry is making a comeback
Ughhh no…it looks all perfect until I saw that Jaguar/Rover style Knob gear shifter..prefer conventional stick..
the design looks Korean to me
But then again it could be Fiat’s connection so it is actually Italian ? Hmmmmm……..
…and they are using 2013 Civic FB2 rims.
I think the car looks good. Nice refreshing design.
Da front looks like da quros car frm china …no??
can someone bring this in?
What a nice car…. great simple and smooth design..
Hope someone eventually bring this Chrysler 200 to Malaysia when it’s available!!!
Please bring the Chrysler 200 to Malaysia.
