While the Mercedes-AMG GT is still anything from a month (German Grand Prix in July) to about three months away (Paris Motor Show in September) depending on who you listen to, AMG has been slowly teasing the new 911 fighter, firstly with a series of interior pictures and then a exterior silhouette photo.
Now Affalterbach is shining the spotlight – or rather, pointing a microphone – at the engine, and the fabulous noise it makes. Listening to the brutal crackles and grumbles at full volume as the hand-built V8 goes up and down the revs is sure to make the hairs on the back of your neck bristle.
No technical details whatsoever have been released so far, but we do expect that the GT will feature AMG’s new 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 that will eventually filter into the rest of the high-powered Mercedes lineup (including the upcoming C 63 AMG). The engine will reportedly be offered in three tunes, with the range lined at the bottom with a 480 hp base model and topped by a 600 hp Black Series.
