Hyundai has offered a first look at its planned i20 Coupe, which is set to expand on the automaker’s new i20 model range beyond the upcoming five-door hatchback. The view offered of the three-door form is through a sketch, revealing cues such as a long hood, more sharply raked roofline and a distinctive roof spoiler.
No details have been divulged as yet, but the company says that new model – designed and developed at its Design Centre Europe facility in Russelsheim, Germany – promises to “combine driving fun, a distinctive character and sporty refinement, with the enhanced practicality and quality” already previewed by its five-door sibling.
Given the way it’s shaping up, the car should be a likely candidate for the brand’s N treatment. The company has its own N sub-brand, which is due to field a series of high-performance road-going models in the future. The N stands for Namyang, the company’s head R&D centre in South Korea.
Much was suggested that the i20 hatchback would be one of the first to get the N reworking, but this one looks like it could be the right appellant for the job. Of course, we might even see the i30 be the one to first to run the route, if that suggested by spyshots are any good.
