Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) yesterday announced the performance results for its first quarter of 2015 – a total of 1,886 Mercedes-Benz passenger cars were sold during the period, a 13% increase over the corresponding quarter in 2014.
The Q1 volume represents a milestone for MBM, which began life as DaimlerChrysler Malaysia on Jan 1, 2003 – it’s the best first quarter ever in the company’s 12-year history. A new record for monthly sales was also made in Q1, with 967 units sold in March.
The biggest seller for the brand was the W212 E-Class, with 1034 units sold, of which 638 units were of the locally-assembled E300 BlueTEC Hybrid that was launched in January. As for the W222 S400L Hybrid, which debuted last May, 270 units were shifted in the first quarter.
The automaker’s New Generation Compact Cars (NGCC) model range – made up by the likes of the W176 A-Class, C117 CLA-Class and GLA-Class – sold to the tune of 418 units within the first quarter, and the W205 C-Class shifted 140 units during the period in its fully-imported CBU guise.
The numbers for the 2015 World Car of the Year are expected to rise with its introduction in locally-assembled form – the CKD variants of the C 200 Avantgarde and C 250 Exclusive are set to be officially launched this week, priced at RM269,888 and RM299,888 respectively.
Eagle-eyed readers will have noticed the inclusion of an E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid Challenge (and the mention of 1,500 km on one tank of fuel) in the graphic shouting the numbers – we’ll have the story on that one soon. And fans of the Mercedes-AMG GT will be pleased to hear that MBM has announced that the sports car will be making its market debut here towards the end of the year.

The time where Mercedes sells more then Proton is coming near…Who would have thought this could happen.
We are witnessing history unfolding as we speak….
Before Mercedes can over take Proton, they need to over take Audi first.
This will only happen if 50% of the population earns more than RM20,000.00 a month.
It could happen if Proton close shop
It could happen if PR kolos shop

we getting EEV rebates for fuel-efficient CKD Mercs?
A few car makers report stronger growth this year. More states (except Johor) experiencing healthy growth in property sales, according to Maybank research arm.
What does this all mean? That our economy gets stronger? Or consumer’s priority has changed? With the GST running in full steam, it’s interesting to analyze consumer spending 1 year from now.
Can Sam Loo’s Camry challege the 1500km on one tank of fuel?
This indication the rich getting richer while the poor and middle class getting poorer. At the current time where house price, groceries are increasing and lot of normal people and middle class cut their budget. On the other hand sale of super expensive car, mercedes, ferrarri, lamboghini is at it best. This show corruption are very high. 10 years ago is very rare to see expensive cars in highway like bentley or audi q7. Now is very common. The inequality getting worse due to corruption.
My friend, please suggest a few names who bought ferrari, lambo, merc as corrupt. You cannot simply say as more people by luxury cars, then society gets more corrupt.
Don’t generalize everyone with your simplistic conclusion. If you want to own an expensive ride, go work hard and work smart. Don’t whine when other people earn their reward.
@Khai, I would not like to jump to the conclusion that if you can afford a luxury car, you are guilty of corrruption. Many people really worked hard to earn such cars. Of course there may be some who are getting their riches through ‘dubious means.’ But you must show facts or proof.
However I do agree with you regarding the economic indicators, as to why there is a spike in luxury car sales. Especially during the uncertain business climate now.
I know this is out of the topic but I’ve booked a CLA200 in early April 2014. Til now, still failed to delivery despite over one year of waiting!!!!
It is because your cable is not long enough.
My friend’s CLA 45 AMG arrive within 2 months of waiting, cutting all queues.
You need ‘cable’ in Malaysia
True. I believe in that ‘cable’ thingy. They can just manipulate the sequence from the computer. It is really disappointing to know it. Anyway, it is over the boundary waiting a car for a year that is just merely 230k! The reason why I still wait for this model is because there’s slight changes of the interior in 2015 model according to my findings online. I’m already on the edge of cancelling this booking and go for others soon.
You are the “cable guy”?
Well… I suggest you change to something else. I know someone waiting longer then you.
He has a booking on GLA250, CLA200 and the c class. He doesn’t mind any of them so long as the sale man can deliver. Still he has waited longer then you.
And frankly this has made the merc sale people abit somewhat arrogant.
Try you walk into the showroom now. They hardly care because they have no car to deliver.
