Next Peugeot 508 to get autonomous driving features?

51 - New 508 Saloon (GT HDi 200)

The next-gen Peugeot 508 (current-gen facelift pictured), scheduled to rear its head in 2017, is set to debut PSA Peugeot-Citroen’s autonomous driving technology, reports Automotive News Europe.

In the company’s annual meeting last month, CEO Carlos Tavares reportedly said that driver aids planned for the new 508 will be a step towards fully-autonomous driving.

Moreover, a PSA spokesman told ANE that the new EMP2-based D-segmenter will offer hands-free steering and braking control in congested traffic, along highways and for parking, but did not elaborate. EMP2 currently underpins the Peugeot 308 and Citroen C4 Picasso.

IHS Automotive analyst Ian Fletcher pointed out that such features are already popping up either as standard or as options in the class, citing as an example the Ford Mondeo. He said the 508’s autonomous driving features should help it compete better in the tough segment.

Over here, we’re on the cusp of getting our PF3-based 508 facelift – the updated car was previewed recently at Mid Valley in GT guise, with a 2.2 litre four-cylinder turbodiesel, a six-speed auto and a RM205k estimated price. See a showroom gallery of the THP petrol below, as well as the GT diesel.

Honda has raised the target to 90K units which we all know Honda selling mainly sedans/ 4WD/ non-commercial vehicles. HRV alone already has more than 30K bookings.

So, for sure, Honda going to win Sam Loo’s Camry/Altis/Vios this year in terms of sales.

*In this case, you don’t even need to mention about RV.

Do you trust French electronics in this country? Peugeot owners have enough problems with random “Engine Fail” headaches already.

    • The random ‘engine fail’ alert is caused by faulty sensor which could be changed in the SC within a day if there are sufficient stock, or sometimes it could be caused by low battery. Yes, the sign is annoying as fk but at least it’s nothing major.

The French bashing opinions are at least 10 years out of date. The current 308 came top in it’s class in the 2015 auto express driver power survey. Golf and focus nowhere to be seen. The 508 was top in its class in the 2015 GTU used car reliability survey in Germany with the Passat in last place. In fact the big French 3 outperformed all the German makes.

Also Peugeot is in the top ten manufacturers for reliability out of nearly 40 in 2015 according to What Car, Auto Express and also Warranty Directs survey which is based entirely on facts and not opinions, as their survey includes only breakdowns, warranty claims and servicing costs.

The big consistent results from all of them is that nearly all German makes are near the bottom of the list when it comes to reliability and running costs. VW, Audi and BMW are particularly bad. And having owned a VW Passat im not surprised. Disastrous money pit of a car.

NO doubt peugeot is a solid car. Only nasim SC fuks up your car when you send there. They only qualified to fix ancient cars like wira and vios.
