These pics, purportedly of a Honda CR-Z facelift, has been circulating online, originating from China. If legit, it shows another refresh for Honda’s “sport hybrid coupe” that debut in 2010. A facelift appeared at the end of 2012 with a new lithium-ion battery, S+ boost button and slightly revised aesthetics.

These pics show the familiar shape with a new face. The top edges of the honeycomb grille have been sawed off, and the lower lip is no longer flat – there’s a protruding chin that cuts in to the fog lamp housings, which are bigger and bolder than the current car’s. Arrows also point to new wheels and chunkier side sills. New headlamps as well?

The rear shot shows unchanged tail lamp clusters, but the lower bumper is new. Like the front, the black bits are curvier but there are still no visible tail pipes for this hybrid car.

There’s a cabin shot as well, and it shows a right-hand drive dashboard with a couple of arrows hinting at changes. The biggest one seen is what looks like an electronic parking brake behind the gear lever, coupled with the addition of a centre armrest with storage box.

Arrows also point to the door handle and centre console “pillars” so there might be a new trim material for these areas. There’s also a 2-DIN touch screen head unit with a six-box main menu that appears similar to that seen on today’s City and Jazz, so it could be the same system. Spot anything else?

If these pics are legit, a facelifted Honda CR-Z could be waiting for us at the bi-annual Tokyo Motor Show happening later this year. Not quite dead yet it seems, despite being discontinued in certain regions.
