SPIED: Lexus LC Coupe – new 6-Series fighter?

This new Lexus coupe has been in the works for a long time. Seen here on test alongside benchmark cars like the BMW 6-Series, this new big Lexus coupe is expected to be called the Lexus LC, as the company trademarked the names LC 500 and LC 500h in the US last year.

The Lexus LC was first previewed in the form of the Lexus LF-LC Concept way back in 2012. Two versions were shown – a red car at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show and a blue car at the 2012 Australian International Motor Show in Sydney.

The 500 badging indicated by the trademarks could suggest a 5.0 litre powertrain like the V8 mill seen in the RC F being used in this one.

We haven’t seen a 500h in the Lexus line-up before – this could mean an uprated version of the 450h hybrid system which combines a 3.5 litre V6 with the Lexus Hybrid Drive system.
