Tokyo 2015: Suzuki Air Triser – private lounge minivan

Suzuki Air Triser TMS-3

Joining the Mighty Deck and Ignis Trail on stage at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show is the Suzuki Air Triser, a minivan concept that offers a wide range of flexibility, wrapped up in a simplistic body. Like its convertible pick-up concept earlier, the Air Triser’s design follows a minimalist approach, with the van’s body finished in a two-tone paintjob.

At the front, tiny slits form the grille with slim fog lamps. A centre-mounted Suzuki badge occupies the top fascia, flanked by two slender and almost rectangular-shaped headlights. From the side, the concept looks nearly symmetrical front and back, with red highlights found on the front and rear lighting elements.

Getting into the concept is accomplished via a split door that slides open, possibly when the large button between them is pushed. That’s not the only party trick this van has either. Suzuki says that the Air Triser “embodies the concept of a private lounge” and “enables users to enjoy their time together not only on the move, but also while they’re stationary makes it unprecedented among minivans.”

That’s where the concept showcases its flexibility, with seats that are configurable to face each other, or arranged a lounge mode, where the seats form a U-shape sofa. A display located on the right-hand side B-pillar can then be synced with a smartphone for users to enjoy.

The interior also continues the minimalist design influential to the van’s exterior and the Mighty Deck concept, with generous use of wood on the floors and seat frames. Canvas-like material appear to be used as upholstery for the seats and other trim pieces in the cabin.

Love it, hate it? What do you think of Suzuki’s Air Triser concept?
