Tokyo 2015: Suzuki Ignis Trail Concept revealed

Susuki Ignis Trail Concept TMS-10

More quirky concepts from the ongoing 2015 Tokyo Motor Show – this time, the Suzuki Ignis Trail Concept is in the spotlight. Based on the production Suzuki Ignis, previewed initially as the Suzuki iM-4 concept, the Ignis Trail Concept is said to further fulfill the crossover aspect of the Ignis – the Japanese carmaker had earlier referred to the latter as a compact crossover but we reckon it’s more of a taller city car.

The higher-riding show car is said to build “upon the Ignis concept of urban and outdoor versatility by offering even greater rough-road ruggedness.” As such, the Suzuki Ignis Trail Concept is equipped with larger wheels and what looks to be extended wheel arch mouldings. Elsewhere, the addition of roof rails and tangerine decals further serves to highlight its outdoor-oriented intentions with a bit of flair.

Although Suzuki has yet to mention any plans for production, it is relatively safe to assume that should the marque choose to green light the concept, it wouldn’t have to put in a significant amount of work – the interior as well as the exterior looks production-ready as it is.

Unfortunately, Suzuki has not revealed technical specifications regarding the Suzuki Ignis Trail Concept. What we do know is that the Suzuki iM-4 concept featured a 1.2 litre Dualjet engine that’s mated to an integrated starter generator (ISG) with a lithium-ion battery.
