2015 SEMA Line Up

At the on-going 2015 SEMA show in Las Vegas this week, Hyundai is showcasing, three custom third-generation Tucsons, two Genesis Coupes and one Veloster Turbo R-Spec. A total of six Hyundai vehicles have been handed over to automotive tuners, to be kitted up.

Starting off with the Tucson line-up, the first is by Bisimoto Engineering. As usual, the tuning house has given the SUV a major boost of power, a total of over 700 hp. Tuning bits have been included into Hyundai’s 2.4 litre Theta II engine. These bits include a high-boost turbocharger, an upgraded engine management system and strengthened internals, combined with fast-burning flex-fuel.

Ride however, has been enhanced with a custom air-ride suspension. With power as the main highlight of their work, Bisimoto chose to keep the aesthetic enhancements of the Tucson relatively simple. Sitting pretty in a metallic blue with an open-air front, while the 700 hp Tucson comes fitted with white five-star race-spec rims wrapped in R-Compound racing slicks.

JP Edition’s Tucson, dubbed the Adventuremobile, is outdoor-centric. It comes affixed with an Aries bull bar and side steps. Up top, it features a Treeline Tamarack roof-top tent for two and a Rigid Industries LED lightbar. To achieve that height, the Tucson is given a custom one and a half inch suspension lift, with Rays Gram Lights 57DR wheels and Toyo Open Country all-terrain II tyres.

Rockstar Performance Garage went the for the same off-road route. Outside, it has been given a black coat, with yellow lines on the hood and sides. Dual LED strips are fitted on the roof. Heightened by six inches, thanks to custom adjustable shocks and struts from King Shocks and 32-inch Mickey Thompson MTX P3 tyres. A high-flow Magnaflow exhaust, K&N intake filter and Mishimoto intercooler, are also in place.

Two Genesis Coupes also debuted. The first, done by ARK Performance. Dubbed the Solus, the candy white coupe is slapped on with the tuner’s own wide-body kit. Inside, it gets a carbon-fibre dash, a gold-coloured shift knob and a full digital cluster from AiM Sports. The 3.8 litre V6 has been upped to 4.0 litres and with a Rotrex supercharger added, it produces more than 500 hp, up from the standard 348 hp.

The TJIN Edition Genesis Coupe also makes more than 500 hp. The 3.8 litre V6 has been custom modded with a Vortech supporter kit by Bisimoto Engineering. Additionally, it gets a Vortech front-mounted intercooler and blow-off valve, together with a free-flow exhaust system. Complementing the green paint is a custom front lip, rear spoiler and trunk lid from Unique Fabrication with a lowered stance thanks to KW coilovers.

Finally, the Veloster Turbo R-Spec modded by Blood Type Racing (BTR) featuring a carbon-fibre wide-body kit, front aero canards, splitter, a rear spoiler and dressed in a Carbon Black paint with a red racing stripe. Fitted to the 1.6 litre engine are new cylinder liners, custom rods, pistons and a Garett turbocharger. The ECU has been retuned to allow the Veloster to produce over 500 hp.
