Citroen C6 sketch and teaser images leaked online

Citroen C6 teaser images-2

So, the Citroen C6 has come and gone, but from the looks of it, the avant-garde sedan will be making a comeback, as these teaser images and a single sketch reveal. It does bear some resemblance to the Citroen Numero 9 concept car which was first unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show four years ago.

The sedan will reportedly be sold exclusively in China, and it is said to be making an appearance at the Beijing Auto Show next month. Meanwhile, pre-production of the model is also said to have already started in China, while Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen will begin assembly of customer cars by September.

The C6 will ride on PSA’s Efficient Modular Platform (EMP2). In addition to that, it is expected to be offered with a choice of either 1.8 litre or 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engines. A hybrid variant is also said to be in the pipeline; however, this powertrain option remains to be confirmed.

Also, Citroen’s Hydractive 3+ hydropneumatic suspension will not be offered as there are plans to have this dropped. In its place will be a new suspension system, which is currently being prepared for a 2017 launch.

As said, the car will be sold solely in China and it will not be launched in Europe. A more luxurious, higher-specced version, which will be sold as a DS9 is slated for an arrival in China, next year. The C6 will be built by Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroen, while the DS9 will be assembled by the Changan-PSA joint venture.
