Tesla Model 3 teased, global unveiling on March 31

Tesla Model 3 teaser March 31

The Tesla Model 3 will be the latest addition to the company’s portfolio after the Roadster, Model S and Model X. Ahead of its debut on March 31, 2016, the company has released a teaser image of the electric vehicle (EV).

The upcoming Model 3 is an important car for Tesla as it is set to become the brand’s most affordable model, with a tentative price of USD$35,000 (RM142,733), before any federal or state green-car incentives.

That makes it nearly half the price of a base Model S 70 D, and should help boost sales for the company. However the Model 3’s projected price tag is still a premium over its closest rival, the Chevrolet Volt, which is priced at USD$33,220 (RM135,507) before tax credits.

In the teaser image, we see a blacked-out Model 3 positioned beside its siblings – the Model S and Model X. Based on the front silhouette, the car does appear to have a certain ‘Model S-esque’ look to it, albeit with a stance that isn’t quite as wide.

Details are scarce pertaining to the car’s looks and specifications, although previous reports point out that the Model 3 will be offered as both a sedan and a crossover, with the former being the first to reveal itself at the end of March.
