Honda Civic launched in China with 1.5 litre turbo mill

Honda Civic 220Turbo China-5

The Honda Civic has landed in China and it is making its official debut at the Shanghai Expo Centre. Called the Civic 220Turbo, there are a total of four variants available in China. Prices range from 129,900 yuan to 169,900 yuan (RM77,580 to RM101,636).

Features that come with the tenth-generation Civic in China include headlamps, daytime running lights and taillamps all in LED. Meanwhile, the interior comes complete with a multi-function steering wheel, sports seats and an intelligent multi-function LCD instrument cluster. The headunit also comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Save for the base model, all variants get Honda Connect as standard.

Only one engine is available for the Chinese-market Civic for now – the 1.5 litre VTEC Turbo unit which produces 174 hp from 6,000 rpm and 220 Nm from 1,700 rpm to 5,000 rpm and will go from 0-100 km/h in 8.6 seconds. As for transmissions, the Civic can be specified with a six-speed manual gearbox (the first market to pair a row-your-own transmission to the turbo mill) or a CVT.

Further down the line, the range is slated to be expanded with a 180Turbo model and it is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2016, it is said. Here, the Civic will be offered with the new 1.0 litre three-cylinder unit that produces 127 hp and 200 Nm of torque.

As for safety, the Chinese-market Civic is equipped as standard with six airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability assist (VSA) and emergency stop signal (ESS). Moving up the range, the Civic gets optional Honda Sensing tech, which include adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow (LSF), collision mitigation braking system, Honda LaneWatch, lane keeping assist and road departure mitigation (RDM).

Tgank you to Malaysia tax system, now copied by Indonesia and Thailand making the prices similar. Worst is Vietnam though. However look at China market civic 1.5 turbo is only 105k equivalent of ringgit to yuan. Very sad.

LOL for altis got RV. Anyway, when this civic reach malaysia, those advance safety features most likely dropped somewhere. but even so, still a lot better than underspecced altis.

Economy isn’t doing good, sales of cars are down, Honda Malaysia would be wise to launch the new Civic soon if they want to achieve their sales target of 90,000 units this year. There’s only 8+ months to go till the year ends

No worries as all car company won’t be hitting sales target this year. But Honda will be the sales leader again this year based on the current trend & models line up.Closest rival Toyota again clueless how to counter Honda’s PC sales.Vios fall under city’s strength, accord suffocating camry’s breath and pondan altis don’t have the answer of this new muscle civic.Maybe only sissy hilux would be life line for UMW this year, but no official launch yet.My verdict, only all new vios design would stop the city’s unchallenged sales volume. But Toyota designer not drawing it yet lor.. This is a big lesson for UMW don’t take for granted & simply undermined its rivals.Logo,RV & past legacy won’t sell.Bear in mind UMW stripping 7-10k for this current vios,so sales might be increase,..a bit.
