It appears that a limited edition version of the BMW M4 coupe is being introduced exclusively for Spain, according to Motorpassion. Called the BMW M4 Competition Sport (CS), word is that BMW will only produce 60 units of the limited edition model, making it rarer than the 700-unit M4 GTS that’s available across the globe.
That said, the Competition Sport edition isn’t exactly a re-engineered car like the M4 GTS, but it is instead a kitted (with M Performance parts) and tuned-up model. In addition, the CS is labelled as a “more civilised” version of the M4 GTS, meaning the rear seats have been retained.
Outside, the M4 CS gets a black kidney grille and side mirrors, a carbon-fibre front splitter, air curtains, a rear diffuser, M Performance fixed rear wing, along with the same 20-inch light alloy wheels as on the GTS. It also gets carbon ceramic brakes (same as the GTS) that reduces weight by 13.5 kg.
It’s less powerful than the GTS, though, as the 3.0 litre twin-turbo straight six engine has been put through a more conventional tune-up, producing a total of 450 hp (25 hp more than the standard M4 coupe, but 50 hp down on the GTS). It’s mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. Top speed has been increased from 250 km/h to 280 km/h.
Three colour combinations can be specified, including an individual Cohiba exterior and black leather cabin, individual San Marino blue body and individual blue and black interior, and Jerez black paint with an individual black and brown cabin.
The seats are also said to be in a new design, with better body-hugging properties. Regardless of the colour combination chosen, the interior will come with carbon-fibre interior trim, an enhanced audio system and heads-up display, among others.
Available to order in Spain soon, the M4 CS will start at 132,900 euros (RM613,500) – about 40,800 euros (RM188,340) more than the base M4 coupe. As stated, this is a Spain-only special, so don’t expect to see it being offered anywhere else.
