Arguably one of the world’s most famous cars, the Ford Mustang is into its sixth generation now, and though the current model has only been on Malaysian shores for a few months, its due for an update, and test mules for both the tin-top and convertible have been spotted roaming the streets.
As with the soft-topped Mustang, the fixed roof model is heavily camouflaged front and rear, leaving little to be found from this sighting. Judging from the blacked-out grille area, that should indicate where the stylistic revisions will be found when more of the car is revealed.
As with the convertible, the coupe Mustang is set to receive the new 10-speed automatic transmission co-developed with GM, which already serves in the Chevrolet Camaro; the six-speed Getrag manual gearbox should soldier on unchanged.
The engine line-up hasn’t been confirmed for the facelift just yet, however the 5.0 litre Coyote V8 and the 2.3 litre EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder can be expected to stay in the Mustang powertrain line-up.
In Malaysia, the EcoBoost Mustang is priced at RM488,888, while the V8 Mustang is priced at RM598,888.
