The 2017 Honda CR-V, first spotted here undergoing road trials in March, has been sighted again – reader William Loo saw this clad SUV going up towards Genting Highlands and managed to snap a pix of it. The mule is much easier to make out this time compared to the one seen two months ago, which was covered by a massive tarp while on the move.
The rear form of the vehicle, as well as of the distinct tail lamp styling, leaves no question as to the identity of the car, and the twin exhaust tip layout reveals the evaluator to be a 1.5L VTEC Turbo.
We already know that the Turbo is coming, and the Malaysian model line-up should resemble that seen in Indonesia – the fifth-generation SUV was launched at the 2017 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) in Jakarta last month, and the two variant line-up for the republic is different to that for Thailand.
Indonesian CR-V buyers get to choose from a five-seater 2.0 litre NA petrol engine and a seven-seater 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine (the Thai model line-up consists of a 2.4 litre NA petrol and a 1.6 litre i-DTEC turbodiesel), and both mills send power to the front wheels via a CVT automatic with steering paddle shifters.
The 1.5 litre DOHC four-pot – which will form the basis of the range-topping model here – puts out 190 PS and 240 Nm of torque delivered between 2,000 and 5,000 rpm, while the familiar R20 2.0 litre SOHC NA lump offers 155 PS and 190 Nm.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Hopefully when it is priced, Honda Malaysia will price the 1.5 Turbo cheaply.
Cause the CRV is really a cheap car globally. The higher CC 2.5, 10 airbag, CBU, with Honda Sensing is US$22k. This is the global price.
In Malaysia, the lower CC 2.0 already is RM140k and that also stripped down to lesser airbags, no Honda Sensing, CKD Made in Malaysia etc etc.
In all probability, in CKD form, Honda Malaysia probably gets the car in raw form for US$13k (RM60k) when it reaches Port Klang.
Proton SUV mana? Semua tidur ke? Belum bangun?
This car is so cheap in Malaysia. Those who cannot afford, do work harder. If you got no money, just buy 2nd hand EX5 for yourself.
Malaysia has the cheapest car prices in the world!
cheapest? Proof?!
Our EX5 is the cheapest
Cheapest. Really.
Compare jepunis land, where local made Mira is almost same price with our celup jepunis mari Axia.
Compare Axia in Indomee oso same price, but since bashers claims our RM like shiet so after exchange rate, our celup Axia more value compare Indomee Axia.
Compare Axia in south overlordland, where after COE its 10X more than local prices.
Compare Axia on the road with my Axia+special package. So much more value when inevitable early afterlife.
So much value locally, is this not cheap?
cybertroopers like to lie and spread fake news
Proof?
the only proof you need is Ringgit Malaysia. 30 years ago was 1 to 1 with SGD. Today, it is SGD 1 to RM3.20.
That is enough proof.
Bedot, org cita pasal honda..yg kau meroyan pasal Proton dah kenapa???
Rakyat belum beri RM1.8B mana ada SUV?
When proton suv is ready, you will buy one?
Bedah, perodua sudah bikin enjin ke belum?
I think instead of wasting your time talking about some amateur called proton, better taruh the sleeping product planners at ETCM.
Hello! Mana Nissan X-Trail facelift?? Bawak masuk with better specs and better quality! Apple Carplay/Android Auto, moonroof, LED headlights/foglights/tailights! Get rid of the 2.0l FWD model with 7 seats and bring in the 2.0l Hybrid 4WD with 5 seats and all the specification improvements above! Hybrid pricing sure competitive with the Govt incentives for CKD Hybrids! Then 2.5 4WD 7 seater sure can be further improved with better specs and cheaper pricing to fight off the new Honda CR-V! At least put up a fight lah spineless Tan Chong!
Proton is amateur? 30 years u called amateur?
Of course, amateur
Don’t spread false news. According to consumer orientated website specializing in cars in the USA, the average price paid for the entry level new model CRV there is USD26k, and for the 1.5 Turbo, it is USD32k. These prices do not include state sales tax (GST), because these vary by state (and county). For California and New York state, sales tax is 7.5 percent. I don’t think you can even get any “clearance” old-model CRVs there for the price you quoted.
official website already say US$24k. Belum bargain lagi and belum discount lagi. After discount, sure can get even US20k
Where you get US$26k when official website say US$24k?
USD24k is not USD22k (your previous figure). And if you look further, there is a compulsory flat-rate USD940 “destination charge”. What’s more, the USD24k gets you a really basic model. You even have to pay an additional USD528(!) for reverse sensors. The published price * says it all – “MSRP excluding tax, license, registration, $940.00 destination charge and options. Dealers set own prices”. You’ll find street prices at Edmunds.
Dun mind the basher. He stuck in cave and gets his “news” & “facts” from water dripping.
Don’t talk kok if don’t know. U can bargain like pasar malam when buying car in US. It is up to your skill. 20K+ sound reasonable (~10%).
Go back to your cave, bolehland katak.
It is very smart of Honda to try to push off their current CRV B4 this New CRV arrived at a handsome discount.
I believe those who can wait a little longer will wait 4 this new model to arrived to pay 4 a better/newer CRV.
Those who wait will wait for Proton SUV. Why buy this when u can get Proton SUV for half price?
Because the brand-value of Proton compared to Honda is not 50 percent; it’s more like 5 percent.
Taknak Proton SUV even 1/4 price.
Hello, you just described how ALL manufacturers deal with clearing current stock before incoming new model launches. You just found out the norm?
Let us hope, since elections are coming, Gomen will finally honour their promise, despite 4 years have already passed and give us this 1.5 Turbo with 30% less.
this will help Malaysians save a lot. Assuming it is RM160k, this will be RM48k less (30%).
Let us hope gomen gives us the 30% car price reduction promised to us 4 years ago
Better than that. With this new CRV, we can now have same same with XC90 at half the price. So its 50% reduction janji telah ditepati. Main problem is u can only afford for 2nd hand Honda, and that an EX5.
Why is this same as XC90? How ah. Can’t see how…
Eye problem. Get some glasses dude
Powerful and good fuel economy. Price below 135k please
Honda CEO reply u dislike… he said dream on
forester xt rival?
Pls.. bring the diesel variant
Honda Malaysia thinks the whole of Malaysia does not have internet connection. Ditch the mule cover lah silly .
No need to rayu lah… They are not running a charity or forcing people to buy. U think they will price this brand new puppy below current crv’s price? And commit harakiri on our behalf also?
Face the reality and move on to more affordable options…
Hate the volvo copycat tail light design. Get rid of the tall red column part
But someone says dun look like Volvo wor. So who is correct?
Please do not copy Thailand and Indonesia 7 seater arrangement. 3rd row is very cramp /useless and no rear storage cover. CRV is known with good storage space. 3rd row is added unnecessary weight and eat-up space. No rear storage cover will enourage break-in. Very famous in Malaysia. So bring in 1.5 Turbo and 5 seater arrangement & rear storage cover.
Come on la.. the 3rd row is not fixed.
If priceWhere is C-HR right, the Toyota C-HR is dead before reach Malaysia. So honda sales leading Toyota til 2019? Later ppl already driving new CRV for months, Sam Lo where is ur toyota C-HR????
Having diesel crv would be great. I dont see no reason not to introduce it here since euro 5 diesel is already available here.
Hopefully it will be offered with AWD like in the US or in Thailand.
AWD really does help a lot in tricky situation especially during the raining season.
No need to wish for any major price difference to current ones. $140k+ for 2.0 and most probably $160k+ for the turbo. It’s already a common practice. :-)
Hopefully they will bring in the 1.5 turbo AWD to Malaysia. Need to change new CRV soon. Heard from the salesman, the top spec will be 1.5 turbo FWD only =(
