In its latest round of testing, the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) has awarded the F60 MINI Countryman with a five-star safety rating, which is identical to the previous generation model (R60). The safety rating applies to all variants of the Countryman, except for the plug-in hybrid Cooper S E All4.
In the Adult Occupant test, the Countryman managed to score 90%, with the passenger compartment remaining stable in the frontal offset test. Meanwhile, the SUV scored 80% in the Child Occupant, and 64% in the Pedestrian tests, the latter including good protection to pedestrians’ legs and scoring maximum points.
An autonomous emergency braking system is standard on the Countryman in European markets, which performed adequately in tests of its effectiveness at highway speeds. As a result, a score of 51% was awarded in the Safety Assist test category.
The F60 Countryman has already been launched in Malaysia, where two variants are offered – the Cooper S and Cooper – with prices starting from RM239,888 on-the-road without insurance.
