Honda tops Thai passenger car market – 61k units sold in first half of 2017, 14% increase, 33% market share

Honda has announced that it has sold 61,428 units in Thailand in the first half of 2017, which means the company retains its Thailand market lead with an increase of 14% over the same period last year, while the brand’s market share as of this time is 33%.

During this time, the Honda City, Civic Hatchback, CR-V, Mobilio, and Jazz made their debuts, with sales volume led by the Honda City with 17,511 units, the Civic (sedan and hatch combined) at 13,692 units and the Jazz at 10,285 units. In Malaysia, the CR-V marks the brand’s latest offering on our shores; while it is offered in Thailand with a 1.6L i-DTEC diesel turbo engine and a 2.4L DOHC i-VTEC engine.

“Honda would like to thank every customer for their constant trust and confidence in our automobiles, which enabled Honda to rank number one in passenger car sales for the second year in a row, through the first half of this year. This success is the result of being determined to develop automobile innovations to address the various demands of customers of all lifestyles,” said chief operating officer of Honda Thailand Pitak Pruittisarikorn.

Meanwhile closer to home this year, Honda Malaysia sold 43,719 units in the months up to May, and appears on track for its target of 100,000 units for 2017, and for staying the course to remain top non-national seller as well as second place in the overall volume standings.
