VIDEO: W222 Mercedes-Benz S400h review – RM599k

The W222 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, launched in Malaysia in 2014 quickly became the default choice for those in the luxury car market. Fast forward three years, and the S 400h (launched S 400 Hybrid) faces stiff competition from the newer, more technologically advanced G12 BMW 740Le plug-in hybrid, which also happens to be priced at just under RM600k.

With the facelifted version of the W222 quite some time away (we predict an early-2018 launch at the earliest), the current S 400h is still very much relevant to those in this exclusive market. Paul Tan himself reviewed the new BMW model recently (video embedded below), and now we’ve taken the Mercedes-Benz again to see if it’s still competitive enough despite its age.

Do watch the video review above and let us know what you think of it. Would you still choose the W222 Mercedes-Benz S 400h over the G12 BMW 740Le? Drop your thoughts in the comments section below, and enjoy the video.

  • With his last few sentences, he is basically saying the 7 series is the better value car in Malaysia’s luxury car market.

Can MBM pls bring in a hybrid for the E class. Currently, the E class is over Rm400k. Why give tax benefit for just the S class?

Previously the E250 was Rm420k. But MBM managed to bring in the higher spec and higher model E300 Hybrid Bluetec and sell it for RM333k

Can MBM now bring in a hybrid version so that Malaysians can benefit from cheaper E class?

Or is MBM happy to sell their cars at such high prices that make it difficult for Malaysians to buy?

Comfort and luxury: S-class is 2 steps ahead.

Make sure it will always be the long-wheelbase version offered.
3 + 1 seats will be the best, with two ottomans.
The largest selling point of full-sized luxury saloon is its rear seat/room.

If you really like to drive, don’t opt for a 7-series, instead top up a bit to get a Cayenne or Panamera.

    • The real luxury and comfort is Lexus, compare to Lexus Mercedes comfort only 3rd-class not S-class
