New Volvo XC60 launched in Singapore – T6 R-Design at SG$258k, T5 Inscription set to arrive at later date

The second-generation Volvo XC60 has been launched in Singapore, just a few months after the SUV first revealed to the world back in March this year. For the Singapore market, two variants will be offered – T6 R-Design and T5 Inscription – the latter arriving later in October, according to CarBuyer.

The XC60 in T6 R-Design guise is priced at SG$258,000 (RM811k), while the T5 Inscription has an indicative (not confirmed) price of SG$228,000 (RM717k). The prices quoted come with Singapore’s Certificate of Entitlement (COE).

Under the hood, the T6 R-Design is fitted with a 2.0 litre supercharged and turbocharged petrol engine that serves up 320 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The T5 Inscription gets a 2.0 litre turbocharged engine instead, good for 254 hp and 350 Nm of torque.

Both engines are mated to an eight-speed Geartronic automatic transmission as well as an all-wheel drive system. Performance wise, the T6 will complete the 0-100 km/h sprint quickest at 5.9 seconds, followed by the T5 at 6.8 seconds.

As the variant name suggests, the T6 version is fitted with the R-Design styling package, which includes sportier aprons, a different grille, bucket seats, 21-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, R-Design steering wheel and leather-wrapped gear knob.

The T5 Inscription on the other hand, receives its own front grille design, chrome sill mouldings with embossed logos, chrome garnishing on the exterior, comfort seats and standard steering wheel and gear selector designs.

Safety wise, the XC60 is equipped with the latest IntelliSafe suite of system that includes Oncoming Lane Mitigation and Run-off road Mitigation, just to name a few. City Safety is also part of the suite, where autonomous emergency braking is present, which works together with pedestrian, cyclist and large animal detection.
