FIRST LOOK: 2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom – RM2.2 mil

The 2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom recently made its way to Malaysia, just three months after its global unveiling in July. The eighth-generation Phantom, touted as “The Best Car in the World,” is priced from RM2.2 million for the “standard” model, or RM2.5 million for the Extended Wheelbase (EWB) version here. Both figures are before options and taxes, mind you.

It features the latest evolution of Rolls-Royce styling, with echoes of the recent Vision Next 100 concept. Visually more modern than the car it replaces – the brand’s average customer age is coming down; 45 years old on last count – the new Phantom is as cossetting inside as it is impressive outside.

Featuring a bespoke Architecure of Luxury, new 6.75 litre twin-turbo V12 with 563 hp and 900 Nm, massive 22-inch wheels with specially-designed tyres and plenty of hand-polished stainless steel (including the largest Pantheon grille ever fitted on a Rolls-Royce), this 6.0-metre long limo is a worthy flagship for the BMW-owned ultra-luxury brand.

As expected it has plenty of highlights and flourishes both inside and out. Check it out in detail in our walk-around video here.

it so disgusting to hear “dot org” after mentioning Paultan in the opening sequence of all vids. sound like someone vomiting right after saying Paultan. heck, not even facebook youtube google or amazon publicise themselves as “company name – DOT COM”.

no offence, the contents are good. just the “dot org” disgusts some.

No, customer cars will be RHD, obviously. This particular car is a show vehicle making a tour around the region.

Phantom has always been a symbol of status + wealthiness.
You must be a rich ‘somebody’ to own a Phantom.
    King/Sultan/rich president like Donald Trump/Bill Gates/Michael Jackson/John Lennon …..

Not even Mr Liau/Chung/Lai should own a Phantom.

If you are a rich ‘nobody’, you better choose a Ghost.

I disagree. Rich nobodies have bought Phantoms before.

In fact there’s one Phantom in Japan which has a Toyota 2JZ engine under its hood, swapped by the owner because the Phantom’s engine broke…

    • Your view is severely flawed. It’s often the rich “nobodys” that buy these cars. Many famous people don’t even have a tenth of the wealth that those top 1% whose lives are shrouded in secrecy possess, only the few such as Gates are on par with these elites. The phantom perfectly reflects the lives of these billionaires who chose to remain as such, a phantom.

Not quite. It is German owned and with German technical QC now. Thats why RR doing better now than when it was British owned. Same story with Lamborghini, doing better now than anytime in its past history under Audi ownership.

i watched a video recently by maxman (or something like that) where a prospect client drives into a luxury car showroom but he drove a base spec perodua viva. how differently our sales person in malaysia treats the consumers. at this age it is a little surprising how some of them (or some, or majority) applies a double standard practise.
