The Kia Stinger GT, which was unveiled in January this year at the Detroit Auto Show, has received not one, but two customised versions. Both cars are currently on display at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, and are based on the hot GT variant as base, packing a 3.3 litre twin-turbo V6 producing 365 hp and 510 Nm of torque.
First up is the Stinger GT Federation. The exterior modifications are done by Air Design USA and finished in Creamy-Orange, which the company claims to “further highlight” the car’s new styling. New to it are the rear spoiler, rear diffuser as well as redesigned hood vents. A set of staggered 20-inch TSW wheels wrapped with Falken tyres complete the look.
As for performance, there’s a new K&N cold-air intake in place, as are Eibach springs, thicker anti-roll bars, reduced ride height and a low-restriction quad-tipped Borla exhaust system. All these contribute to a 15 hp gain, bringing the final output figure up to 380 hp.
The Stinger GT Wide Body – teased just last month – on the other hand, is modded by West Coast Customs, a famous tuner based in Los Angeles, California. As expected, the changes are purely cosmetic, starting with the obvious flared wheel arches, now housing 21-inch Keen forged wheels at each corner. To make the car look more imposing, ride height is lowered by 35 mm up front and 30 mm behind. The rear end also is more aggressive now with a set of huge diffuser and a quartet of exhaust tips.
Inside, the leather seats are contrasted with blue leather piping, while the dashboard is finished in hand-stitched grey leather. The steering wheel is wrapped with Alcantara and centre console trim is finished in gloss black.
Back home, the Stinger GT made a brief appearance at Kia’s 2017 Asia Distributors Convention event in Sabah. This, after Naza Kia Malaysia’s CEO, Datuk Samson Anand George revealed the company’s “confidence” with the model’s Malaysian introduction. The four-door grand tourer was also spotted making rounds in Malaysia.
