Toyota Japan has just introduced a range of official bodykit and accessories for the facelifted Vellfire and Alphard, offering customers an assortment of stylish options to stand from of the crowd. The accessory list is extensive, covering both the exterior and interior of the vehicles, but this is only available for the Japanese domestic market.
Now, the Vellfire and Alphard are both sold in normal and Aero trims, the latter differing in the aesthetics department, particularly the sportier front bumper. Toyota is offering three bodykit packages – Dress Up, TRD and Modellista – for the pair of luxury MPV, with Aero models receiving a drastically bolder look.
All three kits include changes to the front bumper design, side skirts and rear bumper, but the TRD and Modellista options come with a sportier quad exhaust and twin exhaust setup respectively. The TRD kit comes with a choice of four wheel designs (up to 20-inch in size!), whereas the Modellista pack gets generous applications of chrome (if not a tad overdone) to go with the audaciously aggressive front fascia.
There’s also a number of accessories to go with the cabin, such as LED footwell lighting, illuminated door sills, beige leather upholstery and fabric roof lining, brown wooden inlays for the steering wheel, as well as privacy curtains, textured floor mats and even a rollable mat (much like a yoga mat) to conceal the railings for the second row seats.
Other convenient items include grab handles built into the rear headrest of the front passenger seat, integrated side step for easy entry, various organisers and extendable leg rests for the captain seats. Each item is a cost option, as seen in the brochure (highlighted in bold; prices are in Japanese yen).
To recap, the range-topping Vellfire and Alphard is powered by a new 2GR-FKE 3.5 litre V6 with direct injection. Lower-end models get the same 180 hp/235 Nm 2.5 litre Dual VVT-i four-cylinder engine, while the hybrid combines a 150 hp 2.5 litre Atkinson-cycle engine, a 141 hp electric motor and a 67 hp rear motor to provide all-wheel drive and a claimed fuel consumption figure of 19.4 km per litre.
Back home, the pre-facelift Vellfire 2.5 is on sale for RM345,142, while the Alphard 3.5 costs RM408,327. The top Alphard 3.5 Executive Lounge goes for RM505,626. All prices mentioned are on-the-road without insurance, and include a five-year/unlimited mileage manufacturer’s warranty. The facelift versions should be introduced in Malaysia soon.
