VIDEO: Ford Performance models battle it out on track

Ever wondered to see a Ford F-150 Raptor take on a Ford Fiesta ST? Well, the Blue Oval is fulfilling that fantasy with an ultimate track showdown featuring the Ford Performance global line-up of models.

Taking place at the Motorland race circuit near Barcelona, Spain, drivers from the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Team had an assortment of cars to choose from as they went head-to-head in a staggered time trial around the 5.345 km circuit.

The models include the F-150 Raptor, the previous Fiesta ST, all-new Fiesta ST, Focus RS, Mustang GT, Mustang GT350R, Ford GT road car and Ford GT race car. Aside from the V8-powered Mustangs, all the cars featured Ford’s EcoBoost engines, from a 1.5 litre unit in the latest Fiesta ST, a 2.3 litre in the Focus RS and a 3.5 litre in the F-150 Raptor and Ford GTs.

The showdown was filmed using three camera crews, a drone and 16 GoPro cameras. Meanwhile, wheel-to-wheel action was captured using a custom-built Ford Fiesta ST camera tracking vehicle in ultra-high-definition 4K resolution.

“It was a hilarious shoot. Eight racing drivers all given a car to go flat-out in for a race. Anything could have happened and it almost did! It was amazing to be one of the first people to drive the all-new Ford Fiesta ST, one of the most popular cars in the world, and it handled like a dream,” said Harry Tincknell, who competes in the FIA WEC.

I wonder what happened to the Ford F150 CKD that came down to Malaysia at RM400k.

Did the company manage to even sell one car???
