Volkswagen will unveil the third-generation Touareg later this month in China, and has released a new teaser video ahead of the big SUV’s debut. While there is still some camouflage on the vehicle seen in the clip, a lot of its design cues are plain to see.
Following the tempo set by the Tiguan and Atlas, the Touareg boasts sharper styling than before. As far as we can see, the design doesn’t stray very far from an undisguised mule that was sighted in the past.
From the shape and look of the lighting units to the lightly-flared fenders, the slight kink on the windows of the rear doors, and even the rear spoiler, there isn’t much left to the imagination – save for the interior.
The carmaker had previously stated the Touareg will be more upmarket than before, and will get a bevy of new technologies to support the claim. These include the Innovision Cockpit, which features a new type of infotainment system, along with air suspension and rear-wheel steering.
The new Touareg will reportedly be underpinned by the MLB Evo platform that is already used for the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne, Lamborghini Urus and Bentley Bentayga. Expect a range of petrol and diesel engines to be offered, with a PHEV also rumoured to be part of the mix.

The American motor websites are hailing this as a 7 seater that will not make it to the US as they have the Atlas there.
My question is, will this be a 5 seater or a 7 seater when it reaches to this part of the world?
Have seen the actual vehicle teaser shots from SA. Closer to Porsche looks at the back with Audi looks at the front.
