Hyundai Tucson N – high-performance SUV confirmed

We’ve seen the Hyundai i30 N and the Veloster N from the Korean carmaker’s N performance sub-brand, and an SUV will be joining the N family soon. Hyundai’s global head of sales, Byung Kwon Rhim, said that the “Tucson is under development, and other models will come after that,” when questioned about the expansion of the N sub-brand, Auto Express reports.

The report says that the hot Tucson is in the early stages of development, and is unlikely to surface for at least a year. Last year, Albert Biermann, Hyundai’s head of performance development and high performance vehicles, talked about the possibility of a hot Tucson, which is a strong seller for the brand in the UK and Europe.

“If I look at the Tucson, the substance of it is so strong technically speaking, to make a Tucson N. I would love to do it,” the former BMW M division man said.

Hyundai can easily drop the i30 N Performance Package’s 2.0 litre turbo engine with 275 PS and 353 Nm into the boosted Tucson, which can then rival the just-unveiled 300 PS Seat Cupra Ateca. Of course, a Hyundai Tucson N would have to be proven at the race track that gives the brand its name, the Nurburgring.

Wow, the car looks great and the performance is superb. No wonder why Hyundai is No 1 in USA and No 1 in Australia now.
Amazing, just started 10 years before Proton did, and yet, Hyundai can sell 8 million cars in over 200 countries.

What’s the use when Hyundai Malaysia keeps bringing in outdated and inferior Hyundai models to our market. Don’t get me wrong, Hyundai is definitely doing a good job in coming out with the N sports range of cars, it’s just that it won’t see the daylight over here. Sad isn’t it? Wake up Sime Darby Hyundai!

Sadly, the Hyundais and KIAs are wildly hated by many Malaysians here who focus solely on RV. Their minds are forever focused only on Hondaaaaa cars only. Boring and stupid mindset.

One of the reason could be to get their in house 7 speed dct gearbox ready since the i30N auto version will be announced next year as well. This tucson could be a good alternative to audi SQ5

Aah, the main reason Mr Albert Biermann talked about the possibility of a hot Tucson is to show the world that Hyundai can also make a performance SUV.

Now I know why Hyundai lured the former BMW M division man to head Hyundai performance development & high performance vehicles.
