Audi Q8 officially teased ahead of debut later in June

Audi has begun teasing the arrival of the new Q8 on its official Facebook page with a darkened image that merely highlights some of the vehicle’s lines. The Q8 will serve as the flagship of the German carmaker’s Q model range, which include the likes of the Q7, Q5, Q3 and Q2.

As is the case with most teasers, there’s not a lot of supplementary information provided. The Q8 will likely ride on the MLB Evo Platform, which is also used by the Q7 and other Volkswagen Group models. Expect a wide range of mild-hybrid engines to be offered, with quattro all-wheel drive, and even a plug-in hybrid option later on.

Comparing the teaser image to previous spyshots, there’s doesn’t appear to be a lot of discrepancy between them. The two horizontal lines over the front and rear wheel arches are clearly represented here, as is the chrome strip down the vehicle’s sides.

The reflective tape also identifies a low-slung roofline that slopes towards a rakish rear windscreen and D-pillar. Elsewhere, the Q8 will also feature a bold hexagonal singleframe grille along with full-width taillights.

On the inside, the Q8 appears to stay true to the Q8 concept and Q8 sport that previewed it, where there’s a dual-screen setup like the latest A8. A third screen will be the virtual cockpit system in the instrument binnacle.

In March, Peter Mertens, member of the board of management of Audi, revealed the Q8 will only celebrate its global premiere in Shanghai in June. Are you looking forward to the new Q8?
