The Volkswagen Golf Mk7 facelift made its Malaysian launch debut in March this year, where one of the variants available to customers is the R-Line. Priced at RM169,990 on-the-road without insurance, the R-Line is one part of the Golf quartet in Malaysia, with the others being the Sportline, GTI and R.
Like the Sportline, the R-Line features a 1.4 litre TSI turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 150 PS at 5,000 to 6,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 3,500 rpm. The mill is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission and an XDS extended differential lock, with drive going to the front wheels. The zero to 100 km/h sprint takes 8.2 seconds, while the top speed is 216 km/h.
As befitting its name, there’s a styling package that gives the Golf a sportier appearance similar to the red-blooded R. This includes dedicated front and rear bumpers, radiator grille with chrome strip, R-Line badges, a rear spoiler, a sports rear diffuser and twin trapezoidal chrome exhaust trim. You also get 17-inch Singapore alloy wheels with 225/45 series tyres plus adaptive LED headlamps.
Inside, there is a 12.3-inch Active Info Display virtual instrument cluster, 8.0-inch Composition Media with App-Connect and Vienna leather upholstery, seven airbags, ESC and the Proactive Occupant Protection System. A disclaimer: this unit here retails slightly less at RM166,990 because it is part of an early batch of cars that came with Zoom fabric upholstery (like the Sportline). After this, only the leather-equipped version of the R-Line will be offered.
Join us as we take you on a tour of the Golf R-Line, with this one being finished in a bright Turmeric Yellow paintjob. Do you think it is worth the RM14k premium (or RM11k in this case) from the Sportline? For full specifications of the Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI R-Line and the rest of the Golf range at CarBase.my.

Buy this car when VPCC do their annual firesales. VPCC and previously VGM themselves will sell all their cars half price. And that also BRAND NEW
Those owners who bought at full price always cry
As with all VW cars in Malaysia, if you like this car so much, just wait one year and buy this car for RM80k in Mudah.
All VW cars come with precision science as to their RV price after 1 year. After 1 year, it becomes 50% off.
Good buy cause still got 4 years warranty left
RM166,990 = SG56k.
sorry bro hafriz, wheres all these cars being displayed ? is it in matrade? public allowed?
They’re at MAEPS, and yep, open to public :)
I can buy 2 units suprima s for this cost..
You can also buy 20 units of Proton Saga 1985 model. Twenty units is better than two in terms of scrap metal, no?
even if they give 20 year warranty, i dont have time to keep going to sc and tow truck rides..plus the amount of time it be in the shop..
Volkswagen, Toyota and Honda designs are much better design than Mitsubishi design. The reason is because Volkswagen, Toyota and Honda design looks very stylish, more elegant and nicer whereas Mitsubishi design looks very boring and look very outdated. Not only that, current Mitsubishi models doesn’t have more advanced safety features, Mitsubishi equipment also too outdated including engines and current Mitsubishi models is not even concept at all compare to current Volkswagen, current Toyota and current Honda model have more advanced safety features, more concept and better equipments and other features and engine is also updated. I recommend you to buy Toyota, Honda or Volkswagen and sales will go up. Lastly, hopefully Mitsubishi sales will keep on dropping
I recommend you to buy upcoming Proton models have best safety features, more concept and better equipments and other features and engine is also updated.
Most unreliable brand ever. I had 2 VW and both of them were breaking down constantly.
Never ever buy VW. Rubbish car
