Mitsubishi Outlander gets minor 2019 updates in Oz

The 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander facelift has just been launched in Australia. New for the 2019 model year is a revised lower apron, front grille with black mesh inserts, fog lamp surround (no chrome now), new-design 18-inch dual-tone multispoke alloys, as well as a re-profiled rear bumper. Higher-specced variants also get a new rear spoiler which is said to improve aerodynamics and reduce wind noise.

Inside, the SUV finally gains dedicated air-con vents and a USB charging port for rear passengers (behind the centre armrest). Other features include a new seat cushion design for better side support, updated interior trim pieces, illuminated window switches with one-touch power windows now available for all four windows, four-way power adjustment for the front passenger seat, leather-look seats and door trims and adjustable speed limiter on the steering wheel.

Lastly, the refreshed Outlander gets a quick ratio steering as standard. This improves responsiveness and steering feel, while larger diameter front struts and rear shocks improve ride control and body control. A new structural bonding improves rigidity, and the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter have been updated to reduce engine noise.

The oily bits remain unchanged. The 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol continues to make 145 PS and 196 Nm, whereas the 2.4 litre four-banger packs 167 PS and 222 Nm of torque. Both petrol mills are mated to the INVECS-III CVT (with the exception of the five-speed manual for the base model) and Mitsubishi’s Multi-Select four-wheel drive system with 4WD Eco, 4WD Auto and 4WD Lock modes.

Prices start from AUD29,290 (RM88k) for the entry-level five-seat 2.0 ES variant, to AUD42,290 (RM127K) for the seven-seater Exceed 2.4 CVT and AUD45,790 (RM138k) for the top-of-the-line Exceed 2.2 turbodiesel 6AT. Ten variants form the model line-up in the land Down Under.
