Images of the next-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA has been captured by our spy photographers before throughout the course of this year, and here finally it seems we have the first images of the full-blown Mercedes-AMG version of the forthcoming four-door coupe. The latest sighting was at the Nurburgring where the standard CLA was found running tests, whereas now we have images of the top performance model.
At the front, it appears that the high-performance version of the CLA will be distinguished by the Panamericana grille as seen on higher-end models such as the revised AMG GT range, including the GT3 racer. The headlamps naturally follow the CLA suit, while the lower corners appear to have the current AMG signature of two horizontal slats within the air intakes.
Around the back, a much more aggressive rear bumper featuring a diffuser and large, quad exhaust tips aid in giving the CLA a wider, more muscular stance, which is doubtlessly aided by larger wheels and tyres as well as a lower ride height courtesy of its AMG-specific suspension setup.
A turbocharged inline-four will continue to reside under the bonnet of the AMG-fettled CLA, which is set to breach the 400 hp mark in peak output, channeled to all four wheels. It remains to be seen whether the top CLA will keep the CLA 45 nomenclature, or move onwards to a rumoured CLA 50 nameplate. Either way, the top of the CLA class is expected to reach showrooms either late in 2018 or early next year.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Assuming it is a 2.0, it is amazing it can churn out 400BHP. This is what you call research and hard work. Mercedes engineers work hard and come out with top performing engines.
Something we must learn from the Germans
Correct! Mesidis, P1, Geely, VolvoCar, Volvotrucks, Lotus > all
And that’s why even Toyota rebadges German car as their hallmark model. Geely was wise to get into their ranks.
If you can’t tell the difference between engineering collaboration and rebadge, you should not be commenting.
Pity Proton has to rebadge all their cars. Just a matter of time before nobody buys the original Proton cars anymore.
Toyota still sells their own brand name and it is the No 1 seller globally.
If you can’t tell the difference between engineering collaboration and rebadge, you should not be commenting.
But what he said is true. Proton is rebadging EXISTING China cars while Toyota is building NEW car with BMW.
All these new gen Benz models is going to put the current Benz models into the history books. The generation leap from one to another is phenomenal unlike BMW which is still quite conservative following an evolution rather than a revolution which isn’t wrong to say at least but one wish they would have tried harder. I know which brand I’m going to try next now.
Mesidis went from an oldman brand to youngman, while BMW went from a youngman brand to an old one.
Cause Mercedes work hard to rebrand themselves. They don’t goyang kaki and expect tongkat.
Nowadays got new tongkat..we call it the magic wand since no gst..rakyat especially business man can make magic…
Its time Merc build an AMG to challenge Honda CTR to claim the King of FWD once & for ALL. Please don’t tell Merc is not interested to claim the “Title”
