FIRST LOOK: 2019 Nissan X-Trail facelift range in M’sia

The Nissan X-Trail was for a couple of years, the best selling SUV in its class, combining practicality and seven seats in a handsome package. The T32 X-Trail facelift is now available in Malaysia, with a list of upgrades and a new Hybrid variant. In this full walk-around video, we take you through all four variants in the range, priced from RM140k to RM170k.

UPDATE: The just-announced “tentative official prices” for the X-Trail facelift are lower than the estimates: RM133,888 for the 2.0L 2WD, RM145,888 for the 2.0L 2WD Mid, RM153,888 for the 2.5L 4WD and RM159,888 for the Hybrid, OTR without insurance.

The updated X-Trail brings a list of changes to the table, from the redesigned LED headlights (2.0L 2WD gets halogen reflectors), new front bumper with rectangular fog lamps and bolder V-Motion grille; to the 17-inch alloys, shark fin antenna and smoked LED combination tail lamps. All except the base 2.0L 2WD get a motion-sensing powered tailgate.

The 2.0L and 2.5L CVT powertrains are unchanged, but there’s a new hybrid option. It pairs a MR20DD 2.0 litre petrol engine optimised for the hybrid system with an electric motor that makes 41 PS/160 Nm. Under the boot floor is a 0.9 kWh lithium-ion battery, which makes the Hybrid a five-seater (rest of the range have three rows). Claimed average fuel consumption is 6.21 litres per 100 km (16.1 km/l), which is supposed to be the best in class.

Safety kit has been boosted, with the top three variants getting six airbags as standard (four for the base model). Also making its debut here is Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility suite of driver assist systems, which includes Forward Collision Warning, AEB, Lane Departure Warning and more.

Four variants are available – the 2.0L 2WD (RM139,900), 2.0L 2WD Mid (RM149,900), 2.5L 4WD (RM159,900), and the new range-topping 2.0L Hybrid (RM169,900). These prices are estimated figures, and the SUV is now open for booking. Full details and differences between variants in the video above.

This is the cheaper alternative for most buyers when compared to the Mazda CX 8, Toyota Fortuner and Ford Everest which I think is priced way over its head at 229k

RM10k different can justify the saving in petrol? My pre face-lift generation 2.5 can get 15.6km/l.

Let’s hope that no one ever buys Nissan Models including New Facelift Nissan Xtrail as Xtronic CVT got too much problematic and very extremely unreliable. It will cost RM18K as some of the Nissan owners had said. Moreover, New Facelift Nissan Xtrail looks outdated, stale and boring design for interior and exterior. Especially for New Facelift Nissan Xtrail is having outdated Technology and outdated Dashboard.

Sometimes I dunno how to comment on this copy and paste. If there was so much problems with it then why do we see Xtrails everywhere? The Pug 3008 was problematic so we don’t see many on the road now but not so with Nissan.

Without 20k bookings, this car can’t save Tanchong Nissan from heading towards oblivion. Tanchong Nissan better close shop.

  • So sad, the following still missing/unchanged:

    – no memory seat
    – Still the same old sluggish CVT gearbox. Would prefer AT
