At long last, UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has launched the 2019 Toyota Avanza facelift in Malaysia, which will be offered in three variants – 1.5E (RM80,888), 1.5S (RM83,888) and 1.5S+ (RM87,88). All the prices mentioned in the brackets are on-the-road without insurance, and includes a five year/unlimited mileage warranty.
Powertrain specifications are the same for all three variants, consisting of a 2NR-VE 1.5 litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 105 PS (103 hp) at 6,000 rpm and 136 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. The engine, which is also found in the Rush and Perodua Myvi, is paired exclusively to a four-speed automatic transmission that sends drive to the rear wheels.
Exterior equipment that comes standard across the range include bi-LED headlamps, a shark fin antenna, a roof spoiler with LED brake lights, and front fog lamps. All Avanza models also get 15-inch alloy wheels by default.
However, only the 1.5S and 1.5S+ variants come with a two-tone finish for the wheels. Additionally, the middle and top variants are also fitted with electric retractable side mirrors, as well as dark chrome trim and red reflectors on the tailgate.
As for the interior, fabric upholstery is the only available option, as is a digital manual air-conditioning system. In other areas, the base 1.5E comes with a three-spoke urethane steering wheel, a standard analogue instrument cluster with a small display and only four speakers for the double-DIN head unit.
Moving up to the 1.5S adds on red accents to the instrument cluster and a multi-info display, along with chrome door handles, six speakers and a steering wheel-mounted media controls. The 1.5S+ swaps out the basic head unit for a more feature-packed 6.75-inch Display Audio touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, plus voice recognition and a reverse camera.
In terms of safety kit, it’s still two airbags at the front, ABS with EBD and Isofix child seat anchors on the outer second row seats. The 1.5S+ marks the first time the Avanza is offered with a blind spot monitor and rear-cross traffic alert, although these features are absent in the 1.5E and 1.5S.
The 1.5S+ is also the only one that comes with a front digital video recorder (DVR) as standard. UMWT offers a number of optional accessories for the Avanza, starting with a rear DVR (RM350) and ceiling-mounted rear monitor (RM1,500) for the 1.5S+ only.
Meanwhile, 1.5E customers can specify the same Display Audio system from the 1.5S+ for an additional RM2,350, and/or front and rear DVRs (RM1,240). All variants can also be fitted with Toyota security and solar film for RM2,120.
Finally, four colours are offered to interested parties, including Black Metallic, White, Dark Red Mica Metallic and Silver Mica Metallic. These colours are available for all variant types. You can check out full specifications of the new Avanza on CarBase.my.

I find paultan.org’s photo gallery limiting. No shot of centre console.
Still no ESP
As I’ve said before, The wait is over! Now we can purchase the game changing MPV in the nearest Toyota dealer. Why I recommend this car? First, the car design is simply sporty as it is designed by world class designers. Second, the interior is modern, comfortable and spacious which can carry more than 7 people with the 7 seaters. Third, it uses Toyota award wining engine that have been proven to be reliable. Fourth, it has complete safety features to protect your family as well as tough car structure to minimize damage. Lastly, it has the most important thing, “high RV”. These are the reasons why we should pick this game changer instead of our game over Exora. Even in Indonesia, this is the best selling MPV in there for 16 years.
Avanza is game over even before launch. Nice try sales dude. Lame tho.
Bro, he is also coming from Hyundai Salesman. Nowadays, so many problems about Hyundai. I just bought for Hyundai Santa Fe in 2015. But I couldn’t able to enjoy my Hyundai Santa Fe because I have to wait for my parts for several months later. Also, there are so too much problems about engine parts and other parts that also have problems
You are ‘absolutely coming from Wilson Khoo’. Lolz!
Wilson Khoo, what R j said is game changing true and he is neither a Toyota or Hyundai salesman.
And by the way, I didn’t type any other dupes at all and I didn’t do anything to you. haha
Are you high?
Yeah, high on delusion. Just treat every thing the troll said in the opposite manner.
Ertiga also got no ESP and VSC. This is why Ertiga also kaput sales
So this Toyota is confirm kaput sales too?
Thats your point right?
tak ada ESP salah siapa? Sebab semua kereta Toyota di seluruh dunia ada ESP.
Kenapa UMw tak berunding dengan Toyota Jepun supaya kami ada ESP?
An the the car screams 3rd world. Also looks very old, especially the interior – come on Toyota.
Makcik should drives new Avanza easy to get in get out from the seat.
Makcik will suffers embarrassment when get in get out from Aruz seat.
Better get perodua aruz. Cheaper.
better get exora. cheaper still & all around better car.
2 air bag ha ha
RM87,888. Better get 2013 Toyota Vellfire 2.4
The Avanza always improve. The prove is that the Avanza have been facelift for the second time. As a game changer, Toyota will always upgrade their cars by adding more features and redesign the car like what we want. Let’s take a look at Avanza competitor, Exora. I must say, it’s a game over MPV. There are reasons, the MPV exterior is already outdated, outdated interior design, lack of safety, no RV and according to news I read, shockingly the engine can terbakar. That is why I truly recommend the Avanza because it has been proven for 16 years.
Yes can get Veilfire minivan with captains seat edition plus 17inch rays rim.
Cepat cepat beli satu to drive back to kampung during Raya. Show all folks you have made it
UMW should follow DRB Hicom way on how to manage PROTON. UMW is GLC and DRB Hicom is a private entity company. To prevent falling like MAB, UMW should sale Perodua share 49.9% to Toyota. I am sure Toyota can offer the latest technology and offer a good bargain price to the customer.
UMW is loaded with cash, why need to sell out?
UMW Malaysia selama 20 tahun gagal berbuat demikian. Bukan salah Toyota Jepun. Sebagai syarikat, Toyota Jepun memang nak beruntung lebih untuk pemegang sahamnya.
Copy paste: “This is about Toyota nothing to do with UMW. Toyota and UMW is 2 different story. Moron!”
Hahaha. Hellfire 70s interior . Boycott
PNB has shortchanged Malaysians. Better to get rid of PNB. Wasting our money only. Incompetent people running it
Salah Toyota lords. Let’s get rid of Toyota from Malaysia!
PNB is a passive fund manager unlike Khazanah. All they care about are dividend upstreaming. For strategic decisions or missteps, U should blame the dinosaurs in UMW.
From the spec list, its only worth 60k and thats for the premium variant.
All your five points are false. All created from your own delusional brain. 1) Avanza was and is never going to be sporty or even good looking. 2) The interior traces its root back to the 90’s, the ride is bumpy like a lorry and can only sit midgets in the rear. 3) The 1.3 and 1.5 engines are museum worthy relics. 4) 2 airbags and no VSC you call safe? 5) Good luck getting decent RV for your Avanza now that Aruz is on sale too.
Lols, what to expect from this “Game Over” troll Roti john anyway, always syiok sendiri and talk nonsense in every articles.
The front of the car only spells “more plastic, more chrome”
For that kind of money, I rather buy a 2nd hand Estima.
Get China company like Geely to replace UMW as distributor for Toyota in Malaysia. You will see prices fall and at least 10 airbags
ya betul, UMW selama ni tidur. Dah 20 tahum UMW tidur. Masa untung bangun ye!
Depan lawa..belakang..alamak..old design
3 variants; blind spot monitor. I guess whoever buying this already blind.
Ugly front. Also the 4 speed auto tranny again. Where have i seen that before in toyota???
drive(not facelift) at langkawi trip last week, this car really crap. not worth at all for 80k
So lan cacat
Hard to see this facelift avanza on the road. People keep on buying Aruz. Finally this ‘game changer’ car is a ‘game over’ car. Time to give Avanza to Perodua for redevelopment to replace Alza
