Nissan appoints Delta Electronics as electric vehicle charging systems provider – AC and DC solutions

Nissan Thailand has announced the official appointment of Delta Electronics (Thailand) PCL as the primary provider of electric vehicle charging systems to complement the introduction of the Leaf in the Kingdom.

“Nissan Motor Thailand is committed to helping drive an electric vehicle ecosystem in Thailand for the benefit of our customers, and Thai people, by supporting a greener future through electric mobility,” said Ramesh Narasimhan, president of Nissan Motor Thailand.

The partnership is in line the Thailand government’s electrification target to have 1.2 million EVs on the road by 2036, and is supported by a Frost & Sullivan report presented at the 2018 Nissan Futures event. In the report, it is revealed that having convenient and flexible options for charging was one of the top three motivating factors to purchase an EV in Thailand.

The aim is to make EV adoption an easier process, and to do so, Delta Electronics wioffers a number of solutions, including a Type 2 AC charger (7.36 kW) for home and workplace charging. The Delta chargers come with a three-year warranty, as well as nationwide technical support and free charging box replacement under warranty.

As the Leaf also supports DC fast charging via a CHAdeMO connection, public charging stations will feature 50 kW chargers. The partnership will also involve Delta setting up AC and DC chargers at 32 Nissan showrooms across the country, with onsite survey, installation and aftersales services all being handled by the company.

“This is an important first step in Thailand, for Nissan to build electrification infrastructure to support lowering carbon emissions. We are confident that this joint effort will meet the requirements of our valued customers as they look to buy a full-battery EV and create the confidence and peace-of-mind about the many charging options available to them,” explained Ramesh.
