The Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen, promote and develop academic, cultural and research cooperation. UiTM was represented by its vice-chancellor, emeritus professor Mohd Azraai Kassim while MARii was represented by its CEO Datuk Madani Sahari.
The MoU will see both parties promoting participation in transforming the Malaysian industry into a globally competitive sector, particularly in the areas of human capital development and application of technology to meet industry demands.
“The upcoming review of the National Automotive Policy will look into new technologies in areas of Next Generation Vehicles, Mobility as a Service (Maas) and Industry 4.0 implementation. Malaysia is aggressively promoting the development of future technologies in the automotive, transportation and overall mobility sectors. Therefore, UiTM’s capabilities will add a new dimension to MARii’s expert and facilities pool to deliver the needed capacities to drive the ‘Connected Mobility’ agenda,” Madani said.
Prof Azraai said that the collaboration will lead towards establishing the first UiTM–MARii Satellite Node, the country’s first MARii Satellite in a university, located at the UiTM’s faculty of mechanical engineering.
“These industry connections and partnerships are essential in ensuring that UiTM’s research and innovations remain impactful and are commercially viable to the industry and community. The solutions we produce must be of practical use to resolve relevant concerns,” he stressed.
With the signing of the MoU, both parties will further discuss new collaborations including industrial partnership programmes through consultancy projects in automotive, robotics and the Internet of Things (IoT); the establishment of teaching-factory partnerships through shared industrial space and the offering of automotive, robotics and IoT as elective subjects; and the development of post graduate programmes through MARii’s centres of excellence.
UiTM is no stranger to cars. It was the winner of Perodua Eco Challenge 2017 and four faculties from the university came up with the AVII, a test-bed for autonomous driving research that was displayed at KLIMS 2018, among other efforts.

Besides these three importantly like Next Generation Vehicles, Connected Mobility and Industry 4.0 which definitely already been listed under NAP2019, EEV for Commercial Vehicles, EEV for motorbikes above 250cc, Flying Cars and Electric Vehicles. Furthermore, As I told you again, the government will also going to give EEV tax incentive for for Hybrid Cars and Petrol Cars
Hoped Datuk Madani capable to attract carmakers in setting up EV production hubs in Malaysia. More jobs for our hardworking youths,
Besides in what you are hoping that you had mentioned in your statement about EV, I also hoping our current government to continue on with EEV tax incentives for Hybrid Cars and Petrol Cars as well. All these, this is very important to the environment to make more cleaner. That way, it will also help to prevent people from harmful and illness.
Let me tell you about another phrase from what the user known as “ANTI-DIESEL PASSENGER CARS” had mentioned. You see, as for present, there are still lots of people driving diesel cars like pick-up trucks, diesel SUV, diesel MPV, diesel lorries and diesel trucks. However, there are few people driving diesel sedans. Why? Many people are already traded their diesel sedans and drive plug in hybrid cars and EEV petrol cars.
However, as upcoming for NAP2019, NAP2019 still want to give EEV incentive for diesel commercial cars instead of giving EEV incentive for diesel passenger cars so that workers wants to buy commercial cars to carry trees, woods, ladder, tools and others to construct the building and land, renovate the houses and so on. So that means Diesel Passenger Cars should be imposed for NAP2019 so that when no one is buying Diesel Passenger Cars, it will not make people make more harm to the people and it will also reduces carbon emissions.
It seems more companies are going to Thailand and Indonesia. And now, even Singapore. Dyson chose Singapore for their EV car
Malaysia does not seem to attract anymore investment.
They saw Pakatan way of running things and they didn’t like it.
Just tax for Diesel Passenger Vehicles but not for Commerical Vehicles. Commercial Vehicles will still be tax-free as EEV. It will be great idea if they imposed Diesel Passenger Vehicles so that the pollution will become less
To differentiate Commercial vehicle from the rest of private vehicle therefore must revised the existing car plate background black color possibly use yellow as background color for all commercial vehicle with alphanumeric in black color.
