Toyota GR Supra GT4 to go on sale in Europe from March 2020 – 3.0L straight-six with 429 hp and 650 Nm

Toyota Gazoo Racing has announced that it will commence sales of the GR Supra GT4 in Europe from March 2020, with the race car set to be offered to customers teams in North America later on in August, followed by those in Japan/Asia in October.

The Supra GT4 is developed and produced by Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG), providing those looking to participate in motorsports with a more accessible and affordable means to do so. As such, the cars in the GT4 class are much closer to the road cars they are based on, although they still get their fair share of modifications.

In the case of the Supra GT4, the 3.0 litre turbocharged straight-six engine has been retuned to produce 429 hp and 650 Nm, which is 94 hp and 150 Nm more than what the road car offers. The mill is mated to a race-ready seven-speed automatic (with paddle shifters), GKN Motorsport driveshaft and a mechanical limited-slip differential that drives the rear wheels. There’s also a Magneti Marelli ECU, ATL FT3 fuel cell, Akrapovic exhaust system for better acoustics, while Ravenol provides first-fill lubricants.

Aside from tinkering with what’s under the bonnet, the race car also employs KW adjustable dampers for the stock suspension setup of McPherson struts at the front, and multi-link rear. For stopping power, the car is fitted with a Brembo brake system consisting of 390 mm steel discs with six-piston calipers at the front, and 355 mm rear discs with four-piston calipers. The Supra GT4 runs on 305/660 series Pirelli tyres wrapped around 18-inch OZ wheels.

To ensure compliance with safety requirements, the interior gets a high-strength roll cage and an FIA-standard OMP racing seat with six-point harness. Other add-ons include an eight-inch Bosch DDU10 display and data logger, a racing steering wheel and carbon-fibre panels that replace those that have been removed to save weight.

In fact, the largely barren cabin, natural fiber composite front splitter and rear wing, as well as the rest of the car, only adds up to an overall weight of 1,350 kg, which is around 200 kg less than the road-going GR Supra.

If you’re interested, the asking price is 175,000 euros (RM813,608) excluding taxes, customs fees and logistic fees. The contact company for each region is TMG if you live in Europe, TRD USA for North America, and Toyota Customizing & Development for Japan/Asia.

who in the world would race an Automatic instead of F1 transmission?

How many Europeans would want to spend so much on a 409hp car when they can afford a Porsche or something much faster for much less than a Supra GT4?

According to 47-ADAC TOTAL 24h-Rennen, SUBARU WRX STI (SP3T) much more better than TOYOTA GR SUPRA (SP8T) & Lexus RC F GT3 (SP9).

Honda Civic (TCR) also better than TOYOTA GR SUPRA (SP8T), Lexus RC F GT3 (SP9).
