smart #1 goes on sale in the UK in Dec – 100 Launch Edition units offered; 66 kWh battery, 439 km range

Following its global debut in April this year, the smart #1 has now been confirmed for the United Kingdom – the electric vehicle has already been launched in China. The order books for the #1 in the UK will open in December 2022 ahead of first deliveries in mid-2023.

The #1 will be first be offered in Launch Edition, with 100 examples set to be available in the UK – only 1,000 units are allocated for Europe as a whole. The Launch Edition will be the halo variants of the range and features cues that closely mirror the Concept #1 from last year.

These include an exclusive combination of a white body and gold roof, accompanied by a bespoke Launch Edition Halo Roof that features an intricate chequered pattern. Also fitted are 19-inch Prism alloy wheels, two-tone leather interior highlights and variant-specific interior trim colours.

The Launch Edition also gets the highest level of features available, including matrix LED headlamps, a 13-speaker Beats audio system, adaptive cruise control, fully automated parking system, a wireless smartphone charger, a 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen with connected services (OTA updates, customisable user interface and AI-based digital assistant).

Meanwhile, the powertrain consists of an electric motor rated at 272 PS (268 hp or 200 kW) and 343 Nm of torque that drives the rear wheels. This is juiced by a 66-kWh battery that allows for up to 439 km (273 miles) of range following the WLTP standard.

The #1 accepts up to 22 kW of AC charging power, which can fill the battery from 10% to 80% in under three hours. Alternatively, using a DC fast charger with an output of up to 150 kW, the battery can be topped up in under 30 minutes.

Pricing for the #1 will be announced at a later date, but for context, the #1 in China in its range-topping Premium spec is 230,000 yuan (RM150,727). The #1 will also be coming to Malaysia, although there’s no indication of available variants or pricing for now.

Communist china always lies prove Smart products will not live up to expectation in terms of quality and poor resale.

Handphone like Huawei is already well known for data harvesting.
