Unless you’ve been living on a different planet, you’ll have noticed that everything seems to going up in price these days, including new cars. It’s not just with all-new models – sometimes, even existing models get a price hike due to an increase in components and production costs.
As such, the idea of a current model having its priced revised downwards sounds very much a pipe dream, given the “biasa, harga naik” age we’re living in. Or is it? An automaker is said to be set to reduce the price of one of its models in the near future, which would baulk that trend.
That automaker is Perodua, and the intimation that a price reduction for one of the models in its line-up is coming soon was made by investment, trade and industry (MITI) minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz. Speaking during the soft launch of the Malaysia Autoshow 2023, he said the automaker would be announcing the news in the near future.
“I was informed that Perodua will be lowering the car price for one of their models very soon, making an already cheap car already cheaper! Another hint, it’s also EEV compliant. Which model? Well, you just have to wait for the announcement,” he said in his speech.
The Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) nod essentially steers three vehicles into the picture, these being the Bezza, Myvi and Axia. It’s not known if the mention of “model” implies a product range or a specific variant in that, but it’s natural for the Bezza to be in that frame.
It’s the oldest model of the trio, having been around since 2016, with the facelift being introduced in early 2020. At present, its base versions make it the most affordable vehicle the automaker offers, with the 1.0G auto going for RM36,580 and the manual for RM34,580.
While it won’t be coming this year, a replacement is on the cards, and so it may be a case of the automaker reducing the price of the Bezza heading into its end-cycle. Or, it could be the previous-gen Axia E manual, which the company has said will continue to be produced and sold in order to meet the needs of the national carmaker’s customer base who are diverse in their requirements and income levels.
At the launch of the model’s 2019 update, the Axia E was priced at RM24,090, which continued to be the case when a range-wide adjustment was done in July 2022, post-SST. In February, the company revealed that the base variant was being planned for release after Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year, which is well, now, signaling that it could be the said model in question.
By how much, and which car, no one yet knows, but such a move would aid public perception and fall very much in line with the government’s efforts to lower the price of goods and reduce the cost of living. What do you think? Will it be the Bezza or the prev-gen Axia E manual? Our money is on the latter.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Should reduce now 10k for axia due to false advert
P2 is playing a game ..how many people now can drive a manual? The volume is negligible.
If P2 is really giving a RAHMAH Axia or Bezza 1.0,the base auto version should not cross rm35K.
But with a quarter million units sales volume annually…P2 dont give a damn. They know our LRTs are hopelessly inefficient and prone to disruptions. So rakyat have no choice but to get a base Saga or Axia.
So,PM Anwar..high time give a call to the P2 CEO,like the call to the Arab to “loosen” the rice monopoly.
P2 is so kedekut..at last replacing “defective oil filters” after buyers start banging tables.
Price should go down less than RM10,000.00 to help B40. Since these is small car less costing.
Should be:
Price should go down less than RM10,000.00 together with a free corpse box – ‘peti mayat percuma’ for their buyers as free gift to help their buyers easy path afterlife, since these is small dangerous junk car with least costing with maximum profit margin.
P2 should give each household a free car as punishment for falsely claiming they are a national car brand but in truth all their cars come from Daihatsu, and they have to be punished for false declaration on their car safety that have endangered millions of Msian lives.
P2 must suffer for their malfeasance actions and malpractices.
In that sense..proton should also be punished..as the car is currently rebadged from geelys model..
Yes we should make P2 bankrupt and destroy that company so that only P1 exists and P1 is the only corrupt company that service our rakyat, we don’t want good affordable cars from Daihatsu or P2, we want shitty cars from P1
so axia E will be re-using the old model, or the updated 2023 model?
Old model
If the Axia E would be continue to be sell at lower price, it will sell like pisang goreng! But safety wise, kelaut compared to new gen Axia 2023.
The old Axia is much safer than the new one with rigged crash test.
Rahmah 5000€ Axia 1.0L MT.
World cheapest 1000cc vehicle,
Value for money.
Bodoh to price it in Euros. In Europe this car would not be allowed on the road and with Testinggate, P2 would not be allowed to exist in Europe.
There are worse car at Euro but more expensive.
e.g
Renault Zoe MK2 – 0 EUNCAP
Hyundai Tucson – 0 LNCAP
not to mention some DarkAge MicroCars like:
Microlino, Citroen Ami
plastic build micro vehicle!
Citroen Ami already begin @ 6000 euro for one that is not even a proper car.
We have Tin Kosong in Malaysia like Saga Axia,
Europe have Plastic Kosong!
Bezza premium x the 1 last best model to get rightnow. Let’s hope coming facelift doesn’t forced in useless thing like bugging eco idle, halfbaked aeb, seldom no use acc. If gives reverse camera a plus point no need to add outside.
Leave the safety issues behind, just bring us kancil’s great grandson – manual, no player, steel rims, no central lock…hahaha…
It should be all Axia variant since the sales already not as high as expected. Now with the safety rigging issue, sales should be even lower.
I like already but let see whether spec also turun. No power window, no radio, …
Cheaper by rm600…
Lower price due to faulty oil filter.
That is supplier’s faults. Not Perodua entirely, mr smarty
Perodua was forced to buy oil filters from this company? And QC seems to be an entirely new concept for Perodua?
So P2 also make their own tyres?
racer going to cry because finallly a manual spec for them
Cheaper and then use the ‘savings’ to slap on ugly rims. Msians love it. No money, need to feed 5 kids, still want to change stock rims to something else and pay installments.
not just any ugly rims, but pirated fake rims. langgar lubang terus crack and accident
An axia without doors perhaps? Anything possible with this unethical burukdua
aren’t all Perodua’s EEVs?
“Equipped with Dual VVT-i and Eco Idle (auto start-stop), Perodua claims the Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) engine has a fuel economy of 15.6 km/l” – 2019 Perodua Aruz SUV launched in Malaysia article
“Perodua claims an impressive 18.9 km/l fuel consumption figure for the Ativa, which is good enough to be classified as an EEV.” – FIRST LOOK: Perodua Ativa SUV detailed walk-around
“The new Alza is classified as an energy efficient vehicle (EEV) and is capable of claimed 22.0 km/l fuel economy in the MDC.” – 2022 Perodua Alza – X, H, AV variants, specs detailed
If Axia E, add automatic transmission could attract more buyers. If MT could reduce price a bit, then AT around same price as E MT now, then okay.
Oh… one more, ABS, EBD and ESC should be standard already. Other features could add aftermarket, but not those safety bunch.
ABS, EBD and ESC not necessary, as the car body is unsafe by design anyway.
My England is bad, but what is “making an already cheap car already cheaper”?
Means TRASH
P2 make tons of money from the B40. They claim best quality but everything under the hood is crap … safety, oil filter, what else not informed to consumers until they find out. This spells shortcut on testing on components in order to get more profits. They squeeze their suppliers to death and only care about sales and profit.
when P2 says 95% of their car is made from locally sourced parts, then its time to jump ship and buy other cars.
Hopefully perodua can give option include the likes of ASA, ACC or reducing price for alza and ativa. New gen may admired those new tech but It’s rather irritating or completely useless for veteran driver.
We need an auto Axia E please with affordable price Rahmah for rakyat ya….
turun harga ke~20k
Why P1 cannot make subRM25k entry level budget car? P1 shld compete with P2.
Because they take crash tests for serious maybe?
https://paultan.org/2015/10/19/proton-admits-to-removing-top-tether-from-the-saga-now-offers-free-installation-for-current-owners/
Proton Saga FLX tested 3 stars, with ISOFIX,
but later removed them selling.
But they able to reinstate the ISOFIX but maintained 3 star.
manufacturers can take crash test seriously but people who buy their cars mostly don’t take safe driving seriously..
Tin can cap pisau
Will these Axias come with a “safe” driver’s side door and faulty oil filters?
Usually unsafe drivers blame their vehicles for being unsafe.
After raya than early may when are you going to announce the new price and production of axia e model
