Since the launch of the CKD version of the GAC GS3 Emzoom back in August, there’s just been the one Premium-R variant – until now. WTC Automotif (WCTA), a Warisan TC Holdings subsidiary, has launched a new Standard variant at RM103,800 as well as reintroduced the Exclusive variant as a CKD model, priced at RM116,800 (RM2k less than the CBU car).
The B-segment SUV’s range now comprises Standard, Exclusive and Premium-R (which remains priced at RM126,800), all of which are locally-assembled by Tan Chong Motor Assemblies (TCMA) in Segambut and carry the same 177 PS/270 Nm 1.5 litre turbo four-cylinder and seven-speed wet DCT.
No matter the variant, you get height-adjustable LED headlamps, LED DRLs, electrically-retractable door handles, rake- and reach-adjustable steering, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, as well as a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android phone mirroring.
The Exclusive’s specs are pretty much similar to the CBU version, but as the new base variant, the Standard does without a fair bit of the Exclusive’s kit, including rear air vents, rear reading lights, rear USB port and surround view camera (settling for just a reverse camera). Inside, you’ll find manual air-con, a urethane steering wheel, fabric seats, just two speakers, analogue dials and conventional cruise control.
On the safety front, although the Standard variant has ABS with EBD and ESP, there are just dual front airbags (Exclusive gets four, Premium-R six) and no ADAS. Externally, the Standard and the Exclusive are similar, down to the 18-inch alloys shod in 225/55 tyres.
What about colours? The GS3 Emzoom Standard gets just Frost White and Asphalt Black, while the Exclusive offers two additional choices – Salt Lake Blue and Superstar Silver. The top-spec Premium R gets the four aforementioned colours plus Graphite Grey, with GAC Malaysia adding that Asphalt Black and Graphite Grey are colours exclusive to Malaysia.
The 2024 GAC GS3 Emzoom continues to be offered with a five-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty and an additional seven-year/180,000 km engine and transmission warranty for the first 2,000 customers. There are currently already more than 20 GAC showrooms and service centres nationwide.
To commemorate the success of its first GAC CKD project, WTCA is offering RM5,000 and RM7,000 cash rebates for the Exclusive and Premium-R variants respectively, until the end of this year. There’s also the option of value-for-money bundling of Complimentary Maintenance Service and Smart Watch Key worth RM1,388 in lieu of lower cash rebates.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
I barely see any on the road.
With such price, proton will shake like crazy
How on earth a car with only 2 air bags can be allowed to launch & sell to customers? TC assumes Malaysian’s life is cheap?
no ADAS, no rear USB port, two speakers and 2 FRONT AIRBAGS for 104k?! Seriously if the analog meter looks good I won’t mind about it, but it looks ugly in this case. WHAT ARE THEY DOING
NO ADAS, 2 AIRBAGS, 2 SPEAKERS AND NO REAR USB PORTS FOR 104K?! If the analog meter looks good I don’t mind it, but at this case it looks ugly. WHAT ARE THEY DOING
What is the deal breaker for R is a pair of paddle shift.
tan ah chong, who dare to buy from them
Feel like a bad decision to just offer 2 and 4 airbag in car that cost upwards of 100k..no aeb not much an issue but the airbag for side impact is really important, feel like paultan and journalist do have some responsibility in pushing this at least basic safety and hard hitting journalism with this type of offering by manufacturer..abs ebd esp 6airbag should not be conpromise once car alredy reach certain price..
more and more car brand CKD, no wonder Japanese brand huge discount to clear their stock…
Outright Solid car in CN, but reach Malaysia falls under the hands of a terrible dealer(TC). In CN, this car is direct competitor for Geely (Proton X50). But here the build quality after CKD is poorer than Cherry Omoda 5. With many specs got cut off by TC and yet priced higher than both (Initial R-Style @ 129K MYR). For reference in CN, GS3 Emzoom top spec only cost 108k RMB (68k MYR), Omoda 5 108k RMB, and Geely ByCool (Proton X50) top spec 119k RMB (72K MYR)
tan chong being tan chong
always late to the party, i mean all the time
lack of safety equipment, priced at very competitive range (so many other models to choose from)
