Zeekr 7X EV launching in Malaysia in Q3 2025 – local preview soon; up to 646 PS, 780 km CLTC range

The Zeekr 7X will be launched in Malaysia in Q3 this year, with an official preview set to take place soon. This was revealed by Alex Bao, head of Zeekr Southeast Asia market, during the launch of Zeekr Space Petaling Jaya recently.

First making its debut in August last year, the 7X went on sale in China later in September and competes against the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7. As mentioned to us during the first Global ZKers Day, the 7X occupies a higher market positioning than BYD, although its size isn’t too far off its rivals – here are the figures:

  • Zeekr 7X – 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,666 mm tall, 2,925 mm wheelbase
  • Tesla Model Y – 4,750 mm long, 1,978 mm wide, 1,624 mm tall, 2,890 mm wheelbase
  • BYD Sealion 7 – 4,830 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, 1,620 mm tall, 2,930 mm wheelbase

In terms of standout features, the 7X in China is offered with a “smart light curtain,” which is a full-width dot-matrix display made up of 1,831 LEDs that can show different lighting signatures and even custom messages.

There’s also a 13.02-inch digital instrument cluster display, a 16-inch mini-LED infotainment touchscreen, dual Qi wireless chargers, a 21-speaker sound system with headrest speakers, Nappa leather upholstery and powered seats (front and rear). Those in the rear can enjoy a 13-inch OLED touchscreen, a six-inch touch panel (to control heating, ventilation and massage functions), while the rear “boss seat” across from the driver gets a powered ottoman and power-folding tray table.

In China, the 7X is available with either a 75-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) ‘Golden Brick’ or 100-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) ‘Qilin’ battery. Both batteries are paired with a rear-mounted electric motor rated at 421 PS (416 hp or 310 kW) and 440 Nm of torque.

The LFP battery provides a range of 605 km following China’s generous CLTC standard, while the NMC option offers 780 km. Another configuration for the 7X comes with the NMC battery but adds a front electric motor for all-wheel drive, a total system output of 646 PS (637 hp or 475 kW) and 710 Nm as well as 705 km of range. Air suspension is also standard for the AWD variant and available as an option for the rest.

The 7X supports 5.5C charging and can get from a 10-80% state of charge (SoC) in 10.5 minutes via DC fast charging. This is for the LFP-equipped model, while the NMC-equipped options require 15 minutes, indicating they support 4C charging instead. The 7X also has external power supplies that can deliver up to 60 kW DC or 3.3 kW AC. All this is made possible by the 7X’s PMA2+ platform that features an 800V electrical architecture.

Pricing for the 7X in China starts at 229,900 yuan (about RM140k) and goes all the way up to 269,900 yuan (RM165k). For comparison, the Sealion 7 ranges from 189,800 to 239,800 yuan (RM116k to RM146k), while the Model Y (China has welcomed the ‘Juniper’ facelift) goes for between 263,500 and 303,500 yuan (RM161k and RM185k).

So we can expect the price of 7X for the highest CLTC mileage 780km to be more than RM 200k.

If only it can maintain below RM 200k, for the 780km, it would be huge bargain compared to BYD sealion.
