2026 Toyota Yaris Cross gets 2,298 bookings within two weeks of launch – 1.5L NA and Hybrid; fr RM100k

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has announced it received 2,298 bookings for the Toyota Yaris Cross within two weeks of the B-SUV’s launch on May 8, 2026. The Yaris Cross may be the twin sister to the Perodua Traz but it is assembled in Bukit Raja alongside the Vios Hybrid, and not in Rawang – other differences here.

Two variants are offered to customers, starting with the 1.5S that is priced at RM99,900 on-the-road without insurance. This is powered by a 2NR-VE 1.5 litre naturally-aspirated inline-four petrol engine making 106 PS (105 hp or 78 kW) and 138 Nm of torque, with drive sent to the front wheels via a CVT.

For RM10,000 more at RM109,900, you can get a hybrid version (1.5S HEV) of the Yaris Cross that features a 2NR-VEX, also a 1.5 litre NA engine but running on the Atkinson cycle. Serving up 91 PS (90 hp or 67 kW) and 121 Nm, it is augmented by an electric motor rated at 80 PS (79 hp or 59 kW) and 141 Nm for a total system output of 111 PS (110 hp or 82 kW). The hybrid variant comes with an e-CVT and is front-wheel drive too.

Regardless of which variant you go for, the Yaris Cross comes standard with six airbags and the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) suite, which includes includes pre-collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention with steering assist, lane keeping control, front departure alert and auto high beam.

The 1.5S HEV gets illuminated scuff plates and a lamp for the front leg room, both of which are not listed for the 1.5S. It also gets a wireless phone charger as standard, which is an option for the petrol-only variant. The 1.5S does come with paddle shifters for those who want to cycle through the CVT’s seven virtual speeds, but its black leather seats lack perforation as they do in the hybrid.
