The Zeekr 7X has been previewed at the 2025 Malaysia Autoshow, following its Thailand-market launch in March this year. Zeekr Malaysia has announced introductory pricing for the first 500 customers – the range starts with the RWD Standard at RM182,000, followed by the RWD Long Range at RM195,000, rounded up by the AWD Performance at RM230,000.

Measuring 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,666 mm tall and with a wheelbase of 2,925 mm, the 7X joins the segment featuring electric vehicles like the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7. The Zeekr electric vehicle (EV) occupies a larger footprint and has a longer wheelbase compared to the Tesla, but is slightly smaller than the BYD.

Zeekr Malaysia quotes a maximum battery range figure of 600 km on the WLTP testing standard, which approximates the numbers for the Thailand-market single-motor variant with the 100 kWh NMC battery (615 km WLTP). In the neighbouring market, the base single-motor, RWD variant gets a 75 kWh LFP battery that offers up to 480 km of range (WLTP).

Based on Thailand specifications, the 75 kWh LFP version attains 10-80% charging in 10.5 minutes, while the 100 kWh NMC battery-equipped version requires 15 minutes to recharge over the same measure. Official charging input figures will be revealed closer to the official Malaysian launch of the 7X, says Zeekr Malaysia.

The single-motor RWD powertrain is a 421 PS/440 Nm unit on the rear axle, with the aforementioned two battery variants for Malaysia. The top dual-motor version called the AWD Performance for our market packs a a combined 646 PS and 710 Nm; this most potent version of the 7X attains a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 3.8 seconds.

The 7X gets adaptive air suspension as standard, while rolling stock on the example displayed here at the 2025 Malaysia Autoshow is a set of 21-inch alloy wheels shod in tyres measuring 265/40R21, as with the show car displayed in Bangkok earlier this year.

Inside, occupants in the 7X will get a 13.02-inch digital instrument cluster display, a 16-inch mini-LED infotainment touchscreen, dual Qi wireless chargers, a 21-speaker sound system with headrest speakers, Nappa leather upholstery and powered seats in front and at the rear, the latter offering up to 10 degrees of recline.

According to a Zeekr Malaysia representative, Malaysian-market orders for the made-in-Ningbo 7X have begun, and the company is aiming for the 7X to reach a sales volume of 1,000 units in 2025.

To recap – the Zeekr 7X has been previewed in Malaysia, with introductory pricing announced for the first 500 customers. The range starts with the RWD Standard at RM182,000, followed by the RWD Long Range at RM195,000, rounded up by the AWD Performance at RM230,000.

Zeekr 7X debuts in Thailand – Model Y rival; up to 646 PS, 615 km WLTP EV range; Malaysian launch in Q3

The Zeekr 7X has been presented at this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) ahead of an expected launch this year. The electric SUV, which went on sale in China last September, is also due to go on sale in Malaysia in Q3 2025.

Measuring 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,666 mm tall and with a wheelbase of 2,925 mm, the 7X competes against other electric vehicles (EVs) like the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7. The Zeekr electric vehicle (EV) occupies a larger footprint and has a longer wheelbase compared to the Tesla, but is slightly smaller than the BYD.

In its home market, the 7X is offered with either a 75-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) ‘Golden Brick’ or 100-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) ‘Qilin’ battery. Both are paired with a rear-mounted electric motor rated at 421 PS (416 hp or 310 kW) and 440 Nm of torque.

The LFP battery provides a range of 605 km following China’s CLTC standard (480 km WLTP), while the NMC option offers 780 km (615 km WLTP). The 7X can also be had with all-wheel drive that uses the NMC battery and adds a front electric motor for a total system output of 646 PS (637 hp or 475 kW) and 710 Nm as well as 705 km of range (543 km WLTP). Air suspension is also standard for the AWD variant and available as an option for the rest.

In terms of charging, the 7X can get from a 10-80% state of charge (SoC) in 10.5 minutes via DC fast charging. This is for the LFP-equipped model, while the NMC-equipped options require 15 minutes. The 7X also has external power supplies that can deliver up to 60 kW DC or 3.3 kW AC. All this is made possible by the 7X’s PMA2+ platform that features an 800V electrical architecture.

Available equipment for the 7X include 13.02-inch digital instrument cluster display, a 16-inch mini-LED infotainment touchscreen, dual Qi wireless chargers, a 21-speaker sound system with headrest speakers, Nappa leather upholstery and powered seats (front and rear).

The 7X retails is priced from 229,900 yuan (about RM140k) to 269,900 yuan (RM165k) in China, which makes it more costly than the Sealion 7. However, the Zeekr is meant to occupy a more premium segment and is cheaper than the Model Y sold there.

Zeekr 7X EV launching in Malaysia in Q3 2025 – local preview soon; up to 646 PS, 780 km CLTC range

The Zeekr 7X will be launched in Malaysia in Q3 this year, with an official preview set to take place soon. This was revealed by Alex Bao, head of Zeekr Southeast Asia market, during the launch of Zeekr Space Petaling Jaya recently.

First making its debut in August last year, the 7X went on sale in China later in September and competes against the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7. As mentioned to us during the first Global ZKers Day, the 7X occupies a higher market positioning than BYD, although its size isn’t too far off its rivals – here are the figures:

    • Zeekr 7X – 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,666 mm tall, 2,925 mm wheelbase
    • Tesla Model Y – 4,750 mm long, 1,978 mm wide, 1,624 mm tall, 2,890 mm wheelbase
    • BYD Sealion 7 – 4,830 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, 1,620 mm tall, 2,930 mm wheelbase

In terms of standout features, the 7X in China is offered with a “smart light curtain,” which is a full-width dot-matrix display made up of 1,831 LEDs that can show different lighting signatures and even custom messages.

There’s also a 13.02-inch digital instrument cluster display, a 16-inch mini-LED infotainment touchscreen, dual Qi wireless chargers, a 21-speaker sound system with headrest speakers, Nappa leather upholstery and powered seats (front and rear). Those in the rear can enjoy a 13-inch OLED touchscreen, a six-inch touch panel (to control heating, ventilation and massage functions), while the rear “boss seat” across from the driver gets a powered ottoman and power-folding tray table.

In China, the 7X is available with either a 75-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) ‘Golden Brick’ or 100-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) ‘Qilin’ battery. Both batteries are paired with a rear-mounted electric motor rated at 421 PS (416 hp or 310 kW) and 440 Nm of torque.

The LFP battery provides a range of 605 km following China’s generous CLTC standard, while the NMC option offers 780 km. Another configuration for the 7X comes with the NMC battery but adds a front electric motor for all-wheel drive, a total system output of 646 PS (637 hp or 475 kW) and 710 Nm as well as 705 km of range. Air suspension is also standard for the AWD variant and available as an option for the rest.

The 7X supports 5.5C charging and can get from a 10-80% state of charge (SoC) in 10.5 minutes via DC fast charging. This is for the LFP-equipped model, while the NMC-equipped options require 15 minutes, indicating they support 4C charging instead. The 7X also has external power supplies that can deliver up to 60 kW DC or 3.3 kW AC. All this is made possible by the 7X’s PMA2+ platform that features an 800V electrical architecture.

Pricing for the 7X in China starts at 229,900 yuan (about RM140k) and goes all the way up to 269,900 yuan (RM165k). For comparison, the Sealion 7 ranges from 189,800 to 239,800 yuan (RM116k to RM146k), while the Model Y (China has welcomed the ‘Juniper’ facelift) goes for between 263,500 and 303,500 yuan (RM161k and RM185k).

Zeekr 7X in China – electric SUV rivals BYD Sealion 7, up to 646 PS, 780 km range, coming to Malaysia 2025

Last week, we were invited to Zeekr’s first Global ZKers Day in Ningbo, China, celebrating its community of owners and enthusiasts. Among the cars on display at Geely’s Meishan plant during our visit was the 7X, the brand’s next international model after the X and 009.

The electric SUV is a competitor to the Tesla Model Y and, in particular, the BYD Sealion 7. The car has already been earmarked for our market and will be launched here sometime next year. Zeekr made great pains during the trip to stress that it occupies a higher market positioning than BYD, but the similarity in size between the 7X and Sealion 7 is stark.

Measuring 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide and 1,666 mm tall, the car is just five millimetres shorter and wider than the Sealion 7 and 46 mm taller, while its 2,925 mm wheelbase is also five millimetres shorter. Both cars are significantly larger than the Tesla Model Y, which costs around the same price as the BYD.

Zeekr 7X in China – electric SUV rivals BYD Sealion 7, up to 646 PS, 780 km range, coming to Malaysia 2025

Zeekr aims to differentiate the 7X using the technology onboard, not least of which is the “smart light curtain” across the front fascia. In essence, the company has fitted a customisable, full-width dot-matrix display that sits above the main headlights, made up of 1,831 LEDs. This show-stopping feature can be used to show everything from different lighting signatures to a Tesla-style light show (replete with backing music) and even your very own custom message (which we’re sure won’t get abused by owners).

Quite how much of this functionality will make it to global markets is unclear, as homologation requirements and the cultural sensitivities of each market normally put a kibosh on such things – but it sure is cool. So are the doors, all four of which can be optioned with power opening and closing.

As expected, the interior is fully featured with a 13.02-inch digital instrument display (shaped to look like a classic instrument binnacle), an augmented reality head-up display and a 16-inch mini-LED infotainment touchscreen, all running on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor. This powers the “Hi Eva” voice control system, which incorporates generative AI functionality. Other features include dual Qi wireless chargers and a 21-speaker, 2,160-watt sound system with headrest speakers.

Zeekr 7X in China – electric SUV rivals BYD Sealion 7, up to 646 PS, 780 km range, coming to Malaysia 2025

The 7X’s interior is also very luxurious, equipped with five plush seats with plenty of power adjustment, upholstered in full-grain Nappa leather. The nearside rear passenger is particularly well provided for, getting a powered ottoman, a power-folding table and even a 13-inch OLED touchscreen. Heating, ventilation and massage functions (all controlled using a six-inch touchscreen integrated in the rear armrest) are a given, and there’s also a camera for those at the front to check on the rear occupants.

That’s not all – the dashboard gets a laser-etched wraparound ambient light bar with 11 zones of customisation, while under the double-opening front armrest sits a heated and cooled storage compartment. There are also powered sunshades for both the panoramic glass roof and the rear side windows. The boot measures a commodious 616 litres, and there’s also a decent 62-litre front boot.

Against all these features, the mechanicals almost seem like an afterthought, but they are impressive in their own right. The 7X is available in single-motor rear- and dual-motor all-wheel-drive variants, the former producing 421 PS (310 kW) and 440 Nm, the latter adding a front motor to boost outputs to 646 PS (475 kW) and 710 Nm. Zero to 100 km/h is accomplished in 5.7 and 3.8 seconds respectively.

The base model uses Zeekr’s Golden Battery, a 75 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) unit that provides a range of 605 km on China’s wildly optimistic CLTC cycle. The main benefit of this pack is 5.5C charging speed, meaning the DC fast charging wattage (in kW) is 5.5 times the capacity of the battery, so around 410 kW. So equipped, the battery can be topped up from 10 to 80% in just 10.5 minutes.

For more range, buyers can turn to CATL’s Qilin battery, a 100 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) pack that enables the 7X to travel up to 780 km on a single charge (705 km with AWD). Although charging is slightly slower, the 800-volt electrical architecture means charging from 10 to 80% still takes only 15 minutes. Air suspension is optional, with the AWD model getting it as standard.

In China, the 7X comes with a lidar sensor above the windscreen, enabling highly automated driving on highways including automatic lane changes and the ability to navigate highway exits. City driving is also supported and will be enabled via an over-the-air update.

It should be noted that the features listed are for the Chinese market and not all are expected to make the transition to other countries. Still, what do you think of the 7X, and would you buy one when it comes to Malaysia? Sound off in the comments after the jump.

  • 2024 Zeekr 7X debuts in Chengdu – Tesla Model Y, Xpeng G6 rival; up to 646 PS, 780 km CLTC EV range

2024 Zeekr 7X debuts in Chengdu – Tesla Model Y, Xpeng G6 rival; up to 646 PS, 780 km CLTC EV range

The Zeekr 7X has made its full debut in China at this year’s Chengdu Motor Show, with deliveries set to commence in China by the end of September. According to CarNewsChina, the 7X will also be sold in overseas markets within a year of its local debut.

Built on the PMA2+ platform (derived from Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture) that also underpins the 007 sedan, the 7X features an 800V electrical architecture and will be offered with two battery options.

The first is Zeekr’s self-developed ‘Golden Brick’ lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with an energy capacity of 75 kWh that provides up to 605 km based on China’s extremely generous CLTC standard. This battery supports 5.5C charging – the ‘C’ indicates how many times a battery can be charged in one hour – and can get from a 10-80% state of charge (SoC) in 10.5 minutes via DC fast charging.

The alternative is a 100-kWh ‘Qilin’ nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery from CATL, which serves up more range at up to 780 km, but with 5C charging instead. These battery options mirror those offered with the latest 007 that also made its debut this year.

2024 Zeekr 7X debuts in Chengdu – Tesla Model Y, Xpeng G6 rival; up to 646 PS, 780 km CLTC EV range

The 7X is available with single- or dual-motor configurations, the former being rear-wheel drive and delivering 421 PS (416 hp or 310 kW). Meanwhile, the latter is all-wheel drive and adds an electric motor at the front rated at 224 PS (221 hp or 165 kW) for a total of 646 PS (637 hp or 475 kW) and a 0-100 km/h time of 3.8 seconds.

As seen on the 007, the 7X features an interactive light strip just above the main headlamps at the front. There’s also a find roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, fender-mounted sensors, full-width ‘Super Red’ taillights as well as flush pop-out door handles.

Measuring 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,666 mm tall and with a wheelbase of 2,925 mm, the five-seat 7X is larger in size when compared to its direct rival, the Tesla Model Y. Other notable rivals include the Xpeng G6, Li Auto L6 as well as the upcoming Xiaomi MX11.

2024 Zeekr 7X debuts in Chengdu – Tesla Model Y, Xpeng G6 rival; up to 646 PS, 780 km CLTC EV range

On the inside, the 7X has a simple dashboard design with a digital instrument cluster and a 16-inch central touchscreen with mini-LED technology and 3.5K resolution, the latter accompanied by a few physical controls beneath it. Powering the infotainment system and its many functions is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip.

It appears Zeekr has taken a page out of its luxurious 009 MPV when designing the rear passenger space of the 7X, as it is decked out with premium features. For starters, there are powered seats with an extendable leg rest which is joined by electric sunshades for the door windows as well as airline-style tray tables that fold out from the backs of the front seats.

For that “boss experience,” higher-spec variants come with a 13-inch 2K OLED touchscreen integrated into the back of the front passenger seat and a powered table top with a load capacity of 20 kg.

If that isn’t enough, there’s an electric blind for the non-opening panoramic glass roof, heating and ventilation functions for the seats and a touchscreen integrated into the armrest to access various functions from the back.

No shortage of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) either, with dual Nvidia Orin X chips providing 508 TOPS of computing power to enable functions such as autonomous emergency braking and a certain level of self-driving. The specifics aren’t available just yet, but the 7X should get the same suite of system as the new 007.

Pricing for the 7X in China isn’t available for now, although it is estimated to go for between 240,000 and 350,000 yuan (about RM146k and RM213k), With the 7X already confirmed to be a global model, there is a possibility that it could come to Malaysia, although we’re still waiting for Zeekr to launch the 009 and X here. What do you think? Is the 7X an electric vehicle (EV) that you want here? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
