    2025 Zeekr 7X launched in Malaysia – Model Y, Sealion 7, G6 rival, up to 646 PS, 615 km WLTP, from RM179.8k

You saw it at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 and at paultan.org‘s Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE); now the Zeekr 7X has finally landed in Malaysia officially, in RM179,800 RWD Standard Range, RM190,800 RWD Long Range and RM226,800 AWD Performance variants. Prices are OTR before insurance. Over 1,000 bookings have been received for the 7X to date, according to Zeekr Malaysia, and the waiting period is now 3-4 months. Customer deliveries are to start mid-September.

Its competitors are the likes of the Tesla Model Y (RM195k-242k), BYD Sealion 7 (RM188k-204k) and Xpeng G6 (RM169k-189k). The 800-volt Zeekr 7X is 4,787 mm long, 1,930 mm wide and 1,650 mm tall, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase.

The two lower variants share the same 421 PS/440 Nm rear-mounted electric motor and six-second 0-100 km/h time, but the Standard Range uses a 75 kWh LFP battery (480 km WLTP) while the Long Range has a 100 kWh NMC battery, making it the range king (615 km WLTP) of the three variants.

    2025 Zeekr 7X launched in Malaysia – Model Y, Sealion 7, G6 rival, up to 646 PS, 615 km WLTP, from RM179.8k

The Performance has two motors making 646 PS and 710 Nm of torque altogether, so it does the century sprint in just 3.8 seconds. The Performance has the same battery as the Long Range, but because it has more, erm, performance, range drops to 543 km WLTP.

In terms of charging, the Zeekr 7X can swallow up to 22 kW AC across the board, but the Standard Range, having the smallest battery, is the fastest-charging variant. It’ll get from 10-100% in 4.5 hours (an hour faster than the other two) at 22 kW AC, and can take up to 450 kW DC (30 kW more than the other two), enabling it to get from 10-80% in a crazy 10.5 minutes (16 minutes for the RWD Long Range and AWD Performance at 420 kW DC). All variants have 3.3-kW vehicle-to-load (V2L).

The Standard Range’s suspension consists of front double wishbones and a multi-link rear, paired with 19-inch multi-spoke alloys wrapped with Continental EcoContact 7 rubber. LED headlamps, daytime running lights and tail lamps are also standard, along with RGB dynamic ambient lighting. There are 36 cabin storage areas, including two underneath the rear bench. Also on are frameless doors and an interior occupant monitoring system (OMS) camera.

Other items on the base variant include a powered tailgate, a panoramic glass roof with powered sunshade, a manually-adjustable leather steering wheel, leatherette upholstery, powered front seats with memory, powered rear seats with 10-degree backrest adjustment, a 13.02-inch digital instrument cluster, a 16-inch centre touch-screen with a 3.5K mini-LED display (Qualcomm 8295 chip), 10 speakers, three-zone climate control as well as wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.

The Long Range gets additions such as a power-adjustable steering wheel, front seat ventilation and massage, a 36.21-inch augmented reality head-up display, 21 Zeekr Sound Pro speakers (including headrest speakers) and dual 50-watt wireless phone chargers.

But it’s the AWD Performance that has all the bells and whistles, including 20-inch multi-spoke alloys covered in Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres, orange Akebono front four-piston brake callipers, orange rear callipers, single-chamber air suspension with continuous control damping, powered doors (which none of its rivals get), full-grain Nappa leather upholstery and powered rear side window sunshades.

The highlight of the top-spec car is the Zeekr Stargate Integrated Smart Light Curtain, which features 1,831 LEDs on the front panel above the headlamps that are customisable to show different patterns. Text is not available for now (Zeekr Malaysia is working to get authorities’ approval) but this could arrive as an OTA update later. By the way, the AWD Performance has an illuminated Zeekr logo in the middle of the Stargate; the other two variants have no Stargate, so they have a regular Zeekr logo on the bonnet.

Safety? No matter which variant you choose, you get seven airbags, ACC, lane centring control, lane keep assist, auto lane change, AEB with forward collision warning and mitigation, parking emergency brake, door open warning, blind spot monitoring, rear collision mitigation support, front and rear cross traffic alert, driver monitoring, automated parking assist, a 360 camera with transparent chassis and sentry mode.

There are five body colours – Crystal White, Onyx Black, Tech Grey and Forest Green are available for all variants while Brook Blue with a silver roof is an AWD Performance-exclusive (RM3k option). As for the interior, black is standard, but the AWD Performance can be had with a purple and white cabin. The range-topping variant can also be specced with 21-inch forged alloys for RM14.8k.

Warranties? Five years/150,000 km for the vehicle and eight years/160,000 km for the high-voltage battery. Buyers get a free 22 kW wallbox and solar tint, plus one year free connected services to access the Zeekr App, onboard navigation and OTA updates – beyond this, customers may extend at extra cost (prices yet to be determined). Without data connectivity, App Controls will not work and OTA will only be possible via Wi-Fi.

There’s also an eight-litre in-car fridge (-15 to 50 degrees Celsius) that the first 500 customers will get as an early bird gift, which is, for now, not available for new customers. It’s a plug-and-play accessory that slides into the drawer at the back of the centre console.

An official brochure for the Zeekr 7X has been posted on the brand’s Malaysian website, giving us a good look at the specifications and equipment that will be available.

Indicative pricing is what we’re getting for now, with the RWD Standard Range listed at RM182,000. This is followed by the RWD Long Range at RM195,000 and AWD Performance at RM230,000.

Buyers will get to choose from five exterior colours, with Crystal White, Onyx Black, Tech Grey and Forest Green being available for all three variants, while Brooke Blue that is paired with a silver roof is exclusive to the AWD Performance. Based on the brochure, Crystal White is the default option, with the other hues being a cost option.

The 7X competes against the likes of the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7, the former ranging from RM195,450 to RM242,450, while the latter is from RM187,710 to RM203,710. The Xpeng G6 is also a competitor and ranges from RM168,820 to RM188,820.

Zeekr 7X launched in Thailand – three variants; from RM182k; up to 646 PS, 710 Nm, 730 km NEDC EV range

While we wait for the Zeekr 7X to be launched in Malaysia, Thailand has received official pricing for the brand’s first electric SUV, just a few months after the model was presented at this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS). As with our market, Thailand gets the 7X in three variants, namely the Standard RWD, Long Range RWD and Performance AWD.

Pricing starts from 1.399 million baht (about RM182k) for the Standard RWD, going up to 1.599 million baht (RM208k) for the Long Range RWD and 1.799 million baht (RM234k) for the range-topping Performance AWD. The figures aren’t too far off the estimated price range for the 7X in Malaysia, which is between RM182k and RM230k.

In Thailand, the Zeekr 7X competes against models like the Tesla Model Y (1.719 million to 2.019 million baht; RM224k to RM263k), BYD Sealion 7 (1.249 million to 1.399 million baht; RM162k to RM182k) and Xpeng G6 (1.439 million to 1.599 million baht; RM187k to RM208k), all of which are also available in Malaysia.

Zeekr 7X launched in Thailand – three variants; from RM182k; up to 646 PS, 710 Nm, 730 km NEDC EV range

However, there are additional competitors offered in Thailand that we don’t currently have here, including the Avatr 11 that ranges from 2.099 million to 2.299 million baht (RM273k to RM299k) as well as the Deepal S07 from 1.399 million to 1.499 million baht (RM182k to RM195k) – the latter was previewed in Malaysia in January. All the alternatives mentioned are roughly the same size as the 7X, with the Avatr 11 being the largest of the bunch.

Powertrain-wise, the Standard RWD features a 75-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery powering a rear electric motor rated at 421 PS (416 hp or 310 kW) and 440 Nm of torque. The Long Range RWD retains the same electric motor but gets a 100-kWh nickel cobalt manganese (NCM) battery.

Meanwhile, the Performance AWD gets the NMC battery and another electric motor at the front for a total system output of 646 PS (637 hp or 475 kW) and 710 Nm. The 0-100 km/h time for the RWD variants is six seconds, with the Performance AWD being quicker at 3.8 seconds. We should point out these specifications are identical to what we’re getting.

Zeekr 7X launched in Thailand – three variants; from RM182k; up to 646 PS, 710 Nm, 730 km NEDC EV range

A full spec sheet isn’t currently available on Zeekr Thailand’s official website, but Headlightmag reports range figures of 565 km (Standard RWD), 730 km (Long Range RWD) and 665 km (Performance AWD). Strangely, these are following the NEDC standard, while our local brochure lists WLTP figures of 480 km, 615 km and 543 km respectively. The standard equipment also appears to identical, with some changes like the the Performance AWD that gets 21-inch forged wheels (20-inch units for our AWD Performance).

As for colours, Crystal White, Onyx Black, Tech Grey and Forest Green, all with a black interior, are available for the Standard RWD. The Long Range RWD and Performance AWD have the option of Crystal White and Onyx Black, also with a black interior, or Tech Grey and Forest Green which come with a white interior and purple accents.

The 7X comes with a five-year, 150,000-km warranty, while its battery is covered for eight years or 180,000 km (whichever comes first). Zeekr Thailand offers a free wall box (with installation) and insurance coverage for one year, along with 24-hour roadside assistance and a 20,000-baht (RM2.6k) gift voucher to purchase Zeekr products or services.

An official brochure for the Zeekr 7X has been posted on the brand’s Malaysian website, giving us a good look at the specifications and equipment that will be available on the electric SUV that is expected to be launched this quarter.

The 7X was first previewed at this year’s Malaysia Autoshow (MAS) in May before being shown to the public again in July at the Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE). As it has been known for some time, the brand’s first electric SUV will be offered in three variants, including the base RWD Standard Range, the mid-spec RWD Long Range and the range-topping AWD Performance.

Indicative pricing is what we’re getting for now, with the RWD Standard Range listed at RM182,000. This is followed by the RWD Long Range at RM195,000 and AWD Performance at RM230,000.

In terms of dimensions, the five-seat 7X measures 4,787 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,650 mm tall and has a wheelbase spanning 2,900 mm. That puts within range of the competition, although the Sealion 7 has a larger footprint over the others. Three different powertrain configurations are available for the 7X, all of which are built on an 800-volt electrical architecture. Here’s an overview of what you’re getting with each:

For all the bells and whistles, you’ll need to go for the AWD Performance, which improves upon the RWD Long Range by gaining 20-inch multi-spoke alloys and single-chamber air suspension with continuous control damping (CCD).

The exterior also gets the Zeekr Stargate Integrated Smart Light Curtain featuring 1,831 LEDs on the front panel above the headlamps, which is meant to offer customisation and personalisation through text and emoticons. All variants get a Qualcomm 8295 chip to power the infotainment system and 36 storage areas inside the cabin, including two underneath the rear seat bench.

The safety and driver assist kit is identical across the line-up too, including seven airbags, adaptive cruise control with lane centring control, lane keep assist, automatic lane change, automatic emergency braking with forward collision warning and mitigation, parking emergency brake, door open warning, blind spot monitoring, rear collision mitigation support, front and rear cross traffic alert, driver monitoring, automated parking assist, a 360-degree camera with transparent chassis and sentry mode.

As for the interior, a black theme comes as standard, with the range-topper having the option of a purple and white combination. The brochure also lists 21-inch forged wheels as a payable option, although there is no pricing for the add-ons for now.

We’re already in the middle of Q3 2025, so expect a launch to take place soon. Given the indicative pricing, specifications and equipment, what do you think of the 7X? Would you pick it over its close rivals?

Zeekr 7X EV shown at PACE 2025 – AWD Performance unit has 20-inch alloys, adaptive air suspension

The handsome Zeekr 7X EV crossover has turned up at the paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE) 2025, co-sponsored by Carro and RHB Bank, which is happening July 19-20 at the Setia City Convention Centre. It’s not launched yet, but is open for booking in Malaysia with introductory pricesRM182k (RWD Standard Range), RM195k (RWD Long Range) and RM230k (AWD Performance).

While the unit that was previewed at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 wore 21-inch alloys covered in 265/40 tyres, the AWD Performance here at PACE has 20-inchers wrapped in 265/45 Michelin Pilot Sport EV rubber. A spec sheet on the stand says that the 7X will come with 19s and 20s – let’s see if the 19s will only be on the RWD Standard Range, or the RWD Long Range as well.

Measuring 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,666 mm tall and with a wheelbase of 2,925 mm, the 800-volt EV goes up against the likes of the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7 – it occupies a larger footprint and has a longer wheelbase than the Tesla, but is slightly smaller than the BYD.

This range-topping variant is two-motor all-wheel drive. Thanks to a 646 PS/710 Nm total output (compared to the one-motor rear-wheel drive variants’ 421 PS/440 Nm), the car gets from 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Its 100 kWh NMC battery yields a 540 km WLTP range – which is in between the RWD Standard Range’s 480 km (75 kWh LFP battery) and the RWD Long Range’s 600 km (100 kWh NMC battery).

Zeekr Malaysia has not revealed official charging times yet, but Thailand touts a 10-80% top-up in 10.5 minutes for the smaller battery and 15 minutes for the bigger battery. The AWD Performance is also the only variant with adaptive air suspension and chassis height adjustment.

On the outside, you’ll see concealed door handles and the Zeekr Stargate integrated smart light across its face – this 90-inch light strip has 1,711 high-power LED beads, a 30-fps refresh rate and up to 10,000 nits brightness. It can be customised to display various graphics and even text as well (although the units here at PACE have yet to be OTA-updated for text capability).

Inside, you’ll find a 13.02-inch instrument panel, a 16-inch 3.5K mini-LED infotainment touchscreen, a 36-inch augmented reality head-up display, dual 50-watt wireless chargers, rear seats that can electrically recline up to 10 degrees and which have ‘magic storage boxes’ under them, front massage seats, tri-zone air-con, 21 speakers including headrest speakers, and a powered roof sunshade.

Seven airbags should be standard fare. While there’s no firm indication, what you see here is likely to be closer to the specs Malaysia will eventually get, although how the items will be distributed across the three variants remains to be seen.

Book a 7X with Carro Retail at PACE 2025 and you’ll get a free 22 kW wallbox charger and free premium window tint upon vehicle registration, on top of other goodies courtesy of paultan.org‘s PACE 2025 partners.

Zeekr 7X in Malaysia – up to 646 PS, 600 km WLTP, three variants; RM182k-230k for first 500 customers

The Zeekr 7X has been previewed at the 2025 Malaysia Autoshow, following its Thailand-market launch in March this year. Zeekr Malaysia has announced introductory pricing for the first 500 customers – the range starts with the RWD Standard at RM182,000, followed by the RWD Long Range at RM195,000, rounded up by the AWD Performance at RM230,000.

Measuring 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,666 mm tall and with a wheelbase of 2,925 mm, the 7X joins the segment featuring electric vehicles like the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7. The Zeekr electric vehicle (EV) occupies a larger footprint and has a longer wheelbase compared to the Tesla, but is slightly smaller than the BYD.

Zeekr Malaysia quotes a maximum battery range figure of 600 km on the WLTP testing standard, which approximates the numbers for the Thailand-market single-motor variant with the 100 kWh NMC battery (615 km WLTP). In the neighbouring market, the base single-motor, RWD variant gets a 75 kWh LFP battery that offers up to 480 km of range (WLTP).

Based on Thailand specifications, the 75 kWh LFP version attains 10-80% charging in 10.5 minutes, while the 100 kWh NMC battery-equipped version requires 15 minutes to recharge over the same measure. Zeekr 7X debuts in Thailand – Model Y rival; up to 646 PS, 615 km WLTP EV range; Malaysian launch in Q3

The Zeekr 7X has been presented at this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) ahead of an expected launch this year. The electric SUV, which went on sale in China last September, is also due to go on sale in Malaysia in Q3 2025.

Measuring 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,666 mm tall and with a wheelbase of 2,925 mm, the 7X competes against other electric vehicles (EVs) like the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7. The Zeekr electric vehicle (EV) occupies a larger footprint and has a longer wheelbase compared to the Tesla, but is slightly smaller than the BYD.

In its home market, the 7X is offered with either a 75-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) ‘Golden Brick’ or 100-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) ‘Qilin’ battery. Both are paired with a rear-mounted electric motor rated at 421 PS (416 hp or 310 kW) and 440 Nm of torque.

The LFP battery provides a range of 605 km following China’s CLTC standard (480 km WLTP), while the NMC option offers 780 km (615 km WLTP). The 7X can also be had with all-wheel drive that uses the NMC battery and adds a front electric motor for a total system output of 646 PS (637 hp or 475 kW) and 710 Nm as well as 705 km of range (543 km WLTP). Air suspension is also standard for the AWD variant and available as an option for the rest.

In terms of charging, the 7X can get from a 10-80% state of charge (SoC) in 10.5 minutes via DC fast charging. This is for the LFP-equipped model, while the NMC-equipped options require 15 minutes. The 7X also has external power supplies that can deliver up to 60 kW DC or 3.3 kW AC. All this is made possible by the 7X’s PMA2+ platform that features an 800V electrical architecture.

Available equipment for the 7X include 13.02-inch digital instrument cluster display, a 16-inch mini-LED infotainment touchscreen, dual Qi wireless chargers, a 21-speaker sound system with headrest speakers, Nappa leather upholstery and powered seats (front and rear).

The 7X retails is priced from 229,900 yuan (about RM140k) to 269,900 yuan (RM165k) in China, which makes it more costly than the Sealion 7. However, the Zeekr is meant to occupy a more premium segment and is cheaper than the Model Y sold there.

Zeekr 7X EV launching in Malaysia in Q3 2025 – local preview soon; up to 646 PS, 780 km CLTC range

The Zeekr 7X will be launched in Malaysia in Q3 this year, with an official preview set to take place soon. This was revealed by Alex Bao, head of Zeekr Southeast Asia market, during the launch of Zeekr Space Petaling Jaya recently.

First making its debut in August last year, the 7X went on sale in China later in September and competes against the Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7. As mentioned to us during the first Global ZKers Day, the 7X occupies a higher market positioning than BYD, although its size isn’t too far off its rivals – here are the figures:

    • Zeekr 7X – 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,666 mm tall, 2,925 mm wheelbase
    • Tesla Model Y – 4,750 mm long, 1,978 mm wide, 1,624 mm tall, 2,890 mm wheelbase
    • BYD Sealion 7 – 4,830 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, 1,620 mm tall, 2,930 mm wheelbase

In terms of standout features, the 7X in China is offered with a “smart light curtain,” which is a full-width dot-matrix display made up of 1,831 LEDs that can show different lighting signatures and even custom messages.

There’s also a 13.02-inch digital instrument cluster display, a 16-inch mini-LED infotainment touchscreen, dual Qi wireless chargers, a 21-speaker sound system with headrest speakers, Nappa leather upholstery and powered seats (front and rear). Those in the rear can enjoy a 13-inch OLED touchscreen, a six-inch touch panel (to control heating, ventilation and massage functions), while the rear “boss seat” across from the driver gets a powered ottoman and power-folding tray table.

In China, the 7X is available with either a 75-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) ‘Golden Brick’ or 100-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) ‘Qilin’ battery. Both batteries are paired with a rear-mounted electric motor rated at 421 PS (416 hp or 310 kW) and 440 Nm of torque.

The LFP battery provides a range of 605 km following China’s generous CLTC standard, while the NMC option offers 780 km. Another configuration for the 7X comes with the NMC battery but adds a front electric motor for all-wheel drive, a total system output of 646 PS (637 hp or 475 kW) and 710 Nm as well as 705 km of range. Air suspension is also standard for the AWD variant and available as an option for the rest.

The 7X supports 5.5C charging and can get from a 10-80% state of charge (SoC) in 10.5 minutes via DC fast charging. This is for the LFP-equipped model, while the NMC-equipped options require 15 minutes, indicating they support 4C charging instead. The 7X also has external power supplies that can deliver up to 60 kW DC or 3.3 kW AC. All this is made possible by the 7X’s PMA2+ platform that features an 800V electrical architecture.

Pricing for the 7X in China starts at 229,900 yuan (about RM140k) and goes all the way up to 269,900 yuan (RM165k). For comparison, the Sealion 7 ranges from 189,800 to 239,800 yuan (RM116k to RM146k), while the Model Y (China has welcomed the ‘Juniper’ facelift) goes for between 263,500 and 303,500 yuan (RM161k and RM185k).

Zeekr 7X in China – electric SUV rivals BYD Sealion 7, up to 646 PS, 780 km range, coming to Malaysia 2025

Last week, we were invited to Zeekr’s first Global ZKers Day in Ningbo, China, celebrating its community of owners and enthusiasts. Among the cars on display at Geely’s Meishan plant during our visit was the 7X, the brand’s next international model after the X and 009.

The electric SUV is a competitor to the Tesla Model Y and, in particular, the BYD Sealion 7. The car has already been earmarked for our market and will be launched here sometime next year. Zeekr made great pains during the trip to stress that it occupies a higher market positioning than BYD, but the similarity in size between the 7X and Sealion 7 is stark.

Measuring 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide and 1,666 mm tall, the car is just five millimetres shorter and wider than the Sealion 7 and 46 mm taller, while its 2,925 mm wheelbase is also five millimetres shorter. Both cars are significantly larger than the Tesla Model Y, which costs around the same price as the BYD.

Zeekr 7X in China – electric SUV rivals BYD Sealion 7, up to 646 PS, 780 km range, coming to Malaysia 2025

Zeekr aims to differentiate the 7X using the technology onboard, not least of which is the “smart light curtain” across the front fascia. In essence, the company has fitted a customisable, full-width dot-matrix display that sits above the main headlights, made up of 1,831 LEDs. This show-stopping feature can be used to show everything from different lighting signatures to a Tesla-style light show (replete with backing music) and even your very own custom message (which we’re sure won’t get abused by owners).

Quite how much of this functionality will make it to global markets is unclear, as homologation requirements and the cultural sensitivities of each market normally put a kibosh on such things – but it sure is cool. So are the doors, all four of which can be optioned with power opening and closing.

As expected, the interior is fully featured with a 13.02-inch digital instrument display (shaped to look like a classic instrument binnacle), an augmented reality head-up display and a 16-inch mini-LED infotainment touchscreen, all running on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 processor. This powers the “Hi Eva” voice control system, which incorporates generative AI functionality. Other features include dual Qi wireless chargers and a 21-speaker, 2,160-watt sound system with headrest speakers.

Zeekr 7X in China – electric SUV rivals BYD Sealion 7, up to 646 PS, 780 km range, coming to Malaysia 2025

The 7X’s interior is also very luxurious, equipped with five plush seats with plenty of power adjustment, upholstered in full-grain Nappa leather. The nearside rear passenger is particularly well provided for, getting a powered ottoman, a power-folding table and even a 13-inch OLED touchscreen. Heating, ventilation and massage functions (all controlled using a six-inch touchscreen integrated in the rear armrest) are a given, and there’s also a camera for those at the front to check on the rear occupants.

That’s not all – the dashboard gets a laser-etched wraparound ambient light bar with 11 zones of customisation, while under the double-opening front armrest sits a heated and cooled storage compartment. There are also powered sunshades for both the panoramic glass roof and the rear side windows. The boot measures a commodious 616 litres, and there’s also a decent 62-litre front boot.

Against all these features, the mechanicals almost seem like an afterthought, but they are impressive in their own right. The 7X is available in single-motor rear- and dual-motor all-wheel-drive variants, the former producing 421 PS (310 kW) and 440 Nm, the latter adding a front motor to boost outputs to 646 PS (475 kW) and 710 Nm. Zero to 100 km/h is accomplished in 5.7 and 3.8 seconds respectively.

The base model uses Zeekr’s Golden Battery, a 75 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) unit that provides a range of 605 km on China’s wildly optimistic CLTC cycle. The main benefit of this pack is 5.5C charging speed, meaning the DC fast charging wattage (in kW) is 5.5 times the capacity of the battery, so around 410 kW. So equipped, the battery can be topped up from 10 to 80% in just 10.5 minutes.

For more range, buyers can turn to CATL’s Qilin battery, a 100 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) pack that enables the 7X to travel up to 780 km on a single charge (705 km with AWD). Although charging is slightly slower, the 800-volt electrical architecture means charging from 10 to 80% still takes only 15 minutes. Air suspension is optional, with the AWD model getting it as standard.

In China, the 7X comes with a lidar sensor above the windscreen, enabling highly automated driving on highways including automatic lane changes and the ability to navigate highway exits. City driving is also supported and will be enabled via an over-the-air update.

It should be noted that the features listed are for the Chinese market and not all are expected to make the transition to other countries. Still, what do you think of the 7X, and would you buy one when it comes to Malaysia? Sound off in the comments after the jump.

  • 2024 Zeekr 7X debuts in Chengdu – Tesla Model Y, Xpeng G6 rival; up to 646 PS, 780 km CLTC EV range

2024 Zeekr 7X debuts in Chengdu – Tesla Model Y, Xpeng G6 rival; up to 646 PS, 780 km CLTC EV range

The Zeekr 7X has made its full debut in China at this year’s Chengdu Motor Show, with deliveries set to commence in China by the end of September. According to CarNewsChina, the 7X will also be sold in overseas markets within a year of its local debut.

Built on the PMA2+ platform (derived from Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture) that also underpins the 007 sedan, the 7X features an 800V electrical architecture and will be offered with two battery options.

The first is Zeekr’s self-developed ‘Golden Brick’ lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with an energy capacity of 75 kWh that provides up to 605 km based on China’s extremely generous CLTC standard. This battery supports 5.5C charging – the ‘C’ indicates how many times a battery can be charged in one hour – and can get from a 10-80% state of charge (SoC) in 10.5 minutes via DC fast charging.

The alternative is a 100-kWh ‘Qilin’ nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery from CATL, which serves up more range at up to 780 km, but with 5C charging instead. These battery options mirror those offered with the latest 007 that also made its debut this year.

2024 Zeekr 7X debuts in Chengdu – Tesla Model Y, Xpeng G6 rival; up to 646 PS, 780 km CLTC EV range

The 7X is available with single- or dual-motor configurations, the former being rear-wheel drive and delivering 421 PS (416 hp or 310 kW). Meanwhile, the latter is all-wheel drive and adds an electric motor at the front rated at 224 PS (221 hp or 165 kW) for a total of 646 PS (637 hp or 475 kW) and a 0-100 km/h time of 3.8 seconds.

As seen on the 007, the 7X features an interactive light strip just above the main headlamps at the front. There’s also a find roof-mounted LiDAR sensor, fender-mounted sensors, full-width ‘Super Red’ taillights as well as flush pop-out door handles.

Measuring 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,666 mm tall and with a wheelbase of 2,925 mm, the five-seat 7X is larger in size when compared to its direct rival, the Tesla Model Y. Other notable rivals include the Xpeng G6, Li Auto L6 as well as the upcoming Xiaomi MX11.

2024 Zeekr 7X debuts in Chengdu – Tesla Model Y, Xpeng G6 rival; up to 646 PS, 780 km CLTC EV range

On the inside, the 7X has a simple dashboard design with a digital instrument cluster and a 16-inch central touchscreen with mini-LED technology and 3.5K resolution, the latter accompanied by a few physical controls beneath it. Powering the infotainment system and its many functions is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip.

It appears Zeekr has taken a page out of its luxurious 009 MPV when designing the rear passenger space of the 7X, as it is decked out with premium features. For starters, there are powered seats with an extendable leg rest which is joined by electric sunshades for the door windows as well as airline-style tray tables that fold out from the backs of the front seats.

For that “boss experience,” higher-spec variants come with a 13-inch 2K OLED touchscreen integrated into the back of the front passenger seat and a powered table top with a load capacity of 20 kg.

If that isn’t enough, there’s an electric blind for the non-opening panoramic glass roof, heating and ventilation functions for the seats and a touchscreen integrated into the armrest to access various functions from the back.

No shortage of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) either, with dual Nvidia Orin X chips providing 508 TOPS of computing power to enable functions such as autonomous emergency braking and a certain level of self-driving. The specifics aren’t available just yet, but the 7X should get the same suite of system as the new 007.

Pricing for the 7X in China isn’t available for now, although it is estimated to go for between 240,000 and 350,000 yuan (about RM146k and RM213k), With the 7X already confirmed to be a global model, there is a possibility that it could come to Malaysia, although we’re still waiting for Zeekr to launch the 009 and X here. What do you think? Is the 7X an electric vehicle (EV) that you want here? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.
